Showtime issues statement on Conor McGregor’s mic being cut off in Los Angeles

UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor and boxing legend Floyd Mayweather made the first stop of their promotional world tour yesterday in Los Angeles, California.

The combat sports stars, Mayweather and McGregor, will square off in a boxing match on August 26 live from T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

During yesterday’s highly anticipated Mayweather vs. McGregor press conference, which took place at The Staples Center in Los Angeles, the Irish superstar experienced problems with his microphone which caused many fans to believe that Showtime had turned it off.

Showtime addressed the issue today releasing the following statement.

“At no point did Showtime or event productions cut any microphones intentionally during Tuesday’s kickoff event in Los Angeles. The point of this would tour is to let these superstars interact with the fans and with each other. Cutting their mics would go against our goal of delivering these fighters to the masses and letting their charismatic and entertaining personalities take center stage.”

Both Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor are confident that they will be able to emerge victorious on the night of August 26 via knockout.

McGregor boldly predicted that he will be able to stop “Money” inside of four rounds.

The second stop of the Mayweather vs. McGregor would tour takes place today in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
