Tyron Woodley once again mocks Conor McGregor for chair-throwing incident
Tyron Woodley and Conor McGregor, who are the UFC welterweight and lightweight champions respectively, have had plenty of memorable exchanges over the last few weeks. Some of them have been on social media, others were backstage in the buildup to November’s UFC 205.
One of Woodley and McGregor’s first interactions occurred at a UFC 205 pre-fight press conference, when McGregor attempted to throw a chair at his then-upcoming opponent, Eddie Alvarez. As the chaos unfolded, Woodley busted out his camera to film the ordeal, and later posted the video on social media, accompanied by the caption “how you act when you know someone gone break it up!”
Unsurprisingly, Woodley’s insinuation that McGregor was bluffing – that he had no intention of actually throwing the chair – didn’t go over well with the Irishman. In fact, Woodley believes this is when their now sizzling beef was first thrown on the frying pan.
On Wednesday morning, Woodley once again suggested that McGregor had no intention of actually throwing a chair, referencing a heated press conference skirmish from the boxing world, during which a table was thrown. The table was thrown by heavyweight boxer Dereck Chisora, in the direction of his upcoming opponent Dillian Whyte.

Though Woodley was initially opposed to the idea of a fight with McGregor, he has recently had a change of heart and has started campaigning for just that. Clearly he’s not letting any opportunity to trash talk the Irish champ go to waste.
At the moment, McGregor is enjoying a break from competition. When he returns, it’s certainly possible that he takes on Woodley, though a bout with Khabib Nurmagomedov or Tony Ferguson seems more likely. Woodley, meanwhile, has no fewer options, as a rematch with Stephen Thompson is likely, and a fight with Demian Maia is also a possibility.
Do you think Woodley and McGregor will ever fight? Sound off, PENN Nation!
