UFC commentator Jon Anik wants to see Conor McGregor vacate the UFC featherweight title
UFC commentator Jon Anik ate his words leading up to the UFC 196 main event featuring UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor and veteran Nate Diaz.
“I will get the area code ‘209’ tattooed on the inside of my forearm, if Nate Diaz beats Conor McGregor,” Anik said before the fight took place. Well, Anik now has a “209” tattoo on his forearm.
Anik recently spoke to the media about Conor Mcgregor and the UFC featherweight picture with a McGregor and Diaz rematch in the works for UFC 200, but didn’t make any bets this time around.
“It seems like the legs are there for a rematch with Nate Diaz and Conor McGregor,” Anik said. “In terms of the featherweight division, I’m never a fan of guys cutting a bunch of weight, ever you know? And, you’ve seen what Robert (Whittaker) has been able to do at 185 pounds even though he was very successful at 170. You know, I don’t like guys cutting too much weight, so I’d kinda like to see Conor vacate the title and fight at 55 (lightweight) or higher going forward.”
With McGregor winning gold in his last fight in the UFC featherweight division, which took place back in December of last year, when will we see him defend his title for the first time? With UFC 200 taking place in July, it will be some time before McGregor can fight again following the rematch with Diaz.
