VIDEO | Anthony Pettis Wants Both of Conor McGregor’s Belts
On Saturday night, in the main event of UFC 205, UFC featherweight king Conor McGregor made history as the first fighter ever to hold two UFC titles in two divisions simultaneously. He did so with a thunderous, second-round knockout of lightweight champ Eddie Alvarez.
As the ruler of two stacked divisions, McGregor now finds himself in the crosshairs of dozens of talented fighters. One of these fighters is former UFC lightweight champion Anthony Pettis, who has recently found new life in the UFC featherweight division.
In a recent interview with TMZ, Pettis discussed McGregor’s win over Alvarez, and expressed his desire to take both of the Irishman’s world titles.
“Man, it was f*cking crazy, bro,” Pettis said of McGregor’s victory. “Conor’s got a left hand from hell I guess.”
“Yeah obviously, bro,” the former champ said when asked if the better man won in UFC 205’s main event. “He f*cking whooped Eddie’s ass. I fought Eddie, and Eddie has a good ass chin, but Conor put it on him.”
“I’m excited to see what happens now,” Pettis said of a potential bout with McGregor. “If he stays fighting, I’m coming for that 145-pound strap and 155-pound strap.”
Though Pettis is clearly eager to get in there with McGregor, he’s currently booked for a fight with streaking Hawaiian featherweight Max Holloway. The two will duke it out on the main card of UFC 206 this December 10 in Toronto. The winner is likely to earn a fight with interim featherweight champion Jose Aldo – if Aldo decides he’s willing to fight again.
McGregor, meanwhile, now plans to take some time off to father his first child with longtime girlfriend Dee Devlin. When the time comes to return, he says it’ll take an ownership stake in the UFC to get him back in the cage.
