VIDEO | Conor McGregor and Eddie Alvarez Warming Up in the Same Locker Room

On November 12, in the main event of the historic UFC 205, UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor will challenge Eddie Alvarez for the UFC lightweight title. If he wins, he’ll become the first fighter in UFC history to hold two titles simultaneously.

Given that McGregor is one of the most iconic trash talkers in MMA history, and that Alvarez has never been the kind of fighter to back down from a challenge, it should come as no surprise that the pair has already engaged in some memorable verbal battles. Though their fight is still a month away, the two have already built up a sizzling grudge.

McGregor and Alvarez’s relationship didn’t begin in the buildup to UFC 205, however. The two champions have crossed paths before.

One of their previous encounters occured on September 27, 2014, inside the MGM Grand Garden Arena. On that night, McGregor made the fourth appearance of his UFC career, cracking Dustin Poirier for a first-round TKO win. Alvarez, meanwhile, came up short in his long-awaited UFC debut, giving up a hard-fought decision to Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone.

As fate would have it, the two fighters would share a locker room in the buildup to these bouts. As the video above shows, Alvarez was not impressed with McGregor’s warmup, which was apparently based primarily on beating up his training partner, Artem Lobov.

“He got ready, I got ready. We both went out. I remember him bringing in that poor sap, some training guy. They padded [Lobov] up real well, and Conor just beat the sh*t out of him for like three hours,” Alvarez explains in the video. “I thought it was the funniest sh*t I’ve ever seen. They got some guy in the back, and they padded him up with all kinds of pads, and Conor just beat the living shit out of this guy, I felt bad.”
