VIDEO | WWE’s New Day brutally honest about fighting in the UFC, gives praise to Conor McGregor
New Day, the charismatic WWE trio says that they have no interest in following in CM Punk’s footsteps to the world of mixed martial arts.
Speaking with TMZ, the guys were asked what the chances are of them transitioning from the professional wrestling ring to the MMA cage and their response was comical.
“Zero chance,” Big E said as Xavier Woods let out a humorous laugh. “Not a chance. You must be out of your mind. Do I look like I want to be punched in the face by Derrick Lewis? No, thank you.”
“I’m too pretty to mess up all this,” Kofi Kingston said pointing to his face.
While the guys were honest about their thoughts on competing in mixed martial arts, they did give praise to Conor McGregor and welcome him to the WWE ring, even after “The Notorious” ridiculed professional wrestling.
“I think the general consensus is that what we do are two very different things,” Woods said. “And, people say what they want to in interviews and things like that, but at the end of the day, we do what we do, he does what he does. And, pretty much, you asking us this question just verifies, yes, he’s talking about it, get people talking, get a stir, get a buzz going. You know, well, good for him then.”
“He’s the man. He’s the man though,” stated Big E.
“If you’ve been following on Twitter, all the back and forth, there’s a lot of WWE superstars that have given Conor an open invitation,” Kingston added. “So, I think, just like you guys, we’d all like to see that happen. If it were to happen, it’d definitely be very interesting to say the least. Him on the mic is unmatched in the UFC, so I don’t know. Who knows? You never know. You never know.”
