Cris “Cyborg” Justino to begin training camp for UFC 214
Over the last few weeks, UFC featherweight star Cris “Cyborg” Justino has been angling hard for at shot at reigning featherweight champion Germaine De Randamie. The Brazilian destroyer is keen to make this fight happen at UFC 214, which goes down on July 29 in Anaheim, California.
Unfortunately, Cyborg hasn’t had much luck getting the UFC 214 title shot she seeks. This has caused her to grow increasingly frustrated, even conceding that she’d be willing to fight Invicta champ Megan Anderson in a non-title fight to participate on the card, and asking the UFC to release her if they can’t find her a fight.
Now, Cyborg has decided to take matters into her own hands. The UFC knows she wants to fight at UFC 214. The fans know she wants to fight at UFC 214. So now, she’s decided to begin her training camp for the card, even though she has still not been given an opponent. She’ll be flying from Curitiba, Brazil to California later this week, where she will get this training camp underway.
This news was confirmed by BJPenn.com’s Tom Taylor.
Before Cyborg kicks off this stateside training camp for her yet unknown UFC 214 opponent, she has invited the city of Curitiba to run with her. Cyborg made this call to action on her official Instagram page. This idea was inspired by boxing star Manny Pacquiao, who has invited fans to participate in runs with him in the past.

Since joining the UFC fold in 2016, Cyborg has gone 2-0. In her first bout with the promotion, she took out Leslie Smith with a vicious volley of strikes. In her second Octagon bout, she mauled Lina Lansberg to a second round TKO. This latter bout occurred all the way back in September, nearly 7 months ago.
With her UFC 214 training camp officially getting underway, do you think Cyborg will get the fight she’s after? Sound off, PENN Nation!
