Cyborg Has Harsh Words for ATT Coach, “Conan doesn’t stand for honor and respect”

By Drake Riggs - January 11, 2018

The back and forth between team Cyborg and team Nunes continues… Recently, one of UFC Bantamweight champion, Amanda Nunes’ coaches at American Top Team, Conan Silveira commented his thoughts on the potential super fight that has fans buzzing.

Cris-Cyborg

“People want to see it, I think they have the best opportunity to leave their marks on history. I believe for the weight division, Amanda is going to be extremely well-prepared,” he said. “She’s not going to have to make the weight. She’s probably going to be strong in that division. I do believe the compensation (for) the strength that comes from Cyborg definitely will be the tools that Amanda has on her side. I think it’s the perfect fight. It’s a perfect match. It’s a champions fight – it’s something we don’t see happen often.

I think it’s not 100 percent, but 1,000 percent going to happen.

I just think it’s a champions fight. I think they need to have that fight.

Featherweight champ, Cris Cyborg had yet to respond to the coach’s remarks…until now. She had this to say when speaking with MMAFighting today:

What do I think about Conan Silveira saying I need the fight against Amanda Nunes to leave my name in history? I think it is a joke that Conan says I need the fight against Amanda Nunes to leave my mark on the sport. He is one of the biggest ‘creonte’ [how Carlson Gracie called fighters who switched teams] in the history of Brazilian MMA. You are talking about a guy who took everything Brazil taught him and sold it to the Americans for nothing. In Brazil, martial arts is about respect, rivalry, competition, and honor.

When Chute Boxe was fighting Brazilian Top Team in Japan, they didn’t need the coaches to grab the microphone and give interviews for the fighters. Conan doesn’t stand for honor and respect, he is loyal to whoever is going to pay him the most money. That is why Conan didn’t stand with Master (Ricardo) Liborio, because the Americans are paying him too much money to care about his students calling everyone in Brazil trash and filthy animals.

Imagine if Colby Covington acted the way he does and then went to train with the old school legends of BTT. Do you think Alan Goes, Nogueira and Ricardo Arona would have let him disrespect an entire country like that? Conan will stand with whatever team is willing to pay him the most money, and that will always be his legacy in the sport.

The day Dan Lambert stops paying his salary is the day he will stop representing American Top Team and put his legacy back up for sale, except this time Brazil will remember.

The 145 lb champ did not hold back. The potential champion vs champion fight has been on the minds of many since UFC 219 but Cyborg has also shared her feelings about the fight when saying that she wants to focus on building her class of 145ers first by taking on a fighter with a recent win in the division, then she’ll worry about Nunes.

Is this fight only getting closer to happening with the continued back and forth from each side?
