UFC Fight Night 95 Weigh-In Results: Cyborg Makes Weight
Tom Taylor - September 23, 2016
Early this morning, reigning Invicta featherweight champion Cris “Cyborg” Justino took to the scale to weigh in for her for sophomore UFC effort, a 140-lb. catchweight bout with Swedish striker Lina Lansberg. Despite plenty of doubt to the contrary, the Brazilian made weight, taking full advantage of the bout’s 1-lb. allowance and tipping the scale at 141. This, of course, is a major relief, as Lansberg suggested she would not take the fight if Cyborg failed to make the contracted weight. Cris Cyborg just weighed in at 141 pounds. Her #UFCBrasilia main event vs. Lina Lansberg is official.

When it comes to super fights in women’s mixed martial arts, there’s nothing bigger than a potential showdown between current Invicta featherweight champ Cris “Cyborg” Justino and former UFC bantamweight champ Ronda Rousey. This has been true for years, and remains true today. Recently, however, this super fight has been looking like less and less of a possibility.

This Saturday, reigning Invicta featherweight champion Cris “Cyborg” Justino will headline her first UFC card. She’ll do so in her home country of Brazil, opposite Swedish muay thai specialist Lina Lansberg. The two will meet at a catchweight of 140 lbs. Unfortunately, Cyborg’s cut down to 140 has turned into an absolute nightmare. The Brazilian striker claims to have started her camp at a whopping 175 lbs, and was still above the 165 lb. mark earlier this week. She’s also been taking birth control under the advice of respected nutritionist George Lockhart – though she has voiced quite a bit of skepticism about this strange weight management regimen.

Sorry, Cyborg: Dana White Has No Plans for New Women's Divisions in the UFC
Tom Taylor - September 19, 2016
This weekend, the UFC returns to Brasilia, Brazil with an exciting night of fights. The card will be headlined by a 140 lb. catchweight bout between reigning Invicta featherweight champion Cris “Cyborg” Justino and debuting Muay Thai specialist, Lina Lansberg. The reason this bout is being contested at a catchweight is simple: Cyborg can’t make the 135 lb. cap of the bantamweight division, which is the heaviest women’s division in the UFC. Of course, we know the cut to 140 is no picnic for her either…

'Cyborg' Still Wants Ronda Rousey: "This Fight Needs to Happen."
Tom Taylor - September 5, 2016
A few years ago, there was no bigger fight for women’s MMA than a clash between former UFC bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey and Invicta featherweight champion Cris “Cyborg” Justino. The main hurdle at the time, however, was that Cyborg was not a UFC fighter. Today, that has changed. Cyborg has already fought once in the UFC, mauling Leslie Smith to a first round KO, and is scheduled for an Octagon return against Lina Lansberg in a few short weeks. Unfortunately, Rousey is now nowhere to be seen. After losing her bantamweight crown to Holly Holm almost a year ago, the former champion has dropped of the map entirely, casting doubt on the possibility of a long-awaited showdown with Cyborg.

Russell Ess - August 4, 2016
Invicta featherweight champion Cris Cyborg has been hoping for the UFC to open up a featherweight division so she can prove her dominance in the biggest mixed martial arts promotion in the world. With one catchweight fight at 140 pounds in the UFC, Cyborg has not been given any option to fight at 145 pounds for the promotion. While she is happy defending her belt in Invicta, another lucrative opportunity is calling her name.
