Invicta featherweight champion Cris ‘Cyborg’ made sure to give back to her hometown of Curitiba, Brazil following her successful UFC debut at UFC 198. ‘Cyborg,’ who picked up a first-round TKO victory over Leslie Smith at UFC 198 visited the Hospital Nossa Senhora Das Gracas in Curitiba while she was back in her hometown.

Invicta FC featherweight champion Cris Cyborg made a statement in her UFC debut earlier this month at UFC 198 when she defeated Leslie Smith via TKO in the very first-round. The feared Brazilian striker has heard the rumors about a possible boxing match between retired champion Floyd Mayweather and current UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor. If that boxing match was to become official, Cris says she would love the opportunity to box on that same card. Her words:

Late Wednesday, it was announced on “UFC Tonight” that the UFC was hoping to get Cris Cyborg back in the Octagon for another 140-pound catchweight bout at UFC 201. The UFC even had an opponent in mind as the report said they were looking to get Cyborg matched with Germaine de Randamie. However, Cyborg took to twitter to clarify what her fight plans are for the immediate future.

Cyborg will face Leslie Smith on the already stacked card, which features a heavyweight championship scrap between Fabricio Werdum and Stipe Miocic in the main event. While many were thrilled that Cyborg will be making her UFC debut, some were very critical of the fact that she would be debuting against 8-6 Leslie Smith. Interestingly enough however, UFC President Dana White says that Smith was the only fighter who was willing to fight Cyborg.

But I do not think the UFC has to introduce the division to let me fight in their promotion. They have a great relationship with Invicta and I’m sure (president Shannon Knapp) would let me defend my title in Brazil.”

UFC President Dana White has stated on numerous occasions that Cris Cyborg will not fight in the UFC because journalists would have a “field day” at the UFC’s expense if she were to fail a drug test. However, with that being said, White also stated that we would never see women competing in the sport, and last Saturday at UFC 196, a women’s bantamweight title fight headlined the event as Miesha Tate won the title by submitting Holly Holm.
