VIDEO: Cyborg to dietitian: “I know my body. I can make 140 pounds without birth control pills”
Cris Cyborg’s weight cut leading into her first headlining bout for the UFC has been a deeply contested issue, from revelations of her nutritionist giving her birth control pills to lose weight to the 20 pounds she still needs to shed before Friday’s weigh-ins.
In Cyborg’s latest video blog, the former Strikeforce and current Invicta featherweight champion was filmed arguing with nutritionist George Lockhart over the use of birth control pills to manage her weight.

“This is not helping, you know? It’s making me heavy,” Cyborg said to her nutritionist George Lockhart during her latest video blog.
“What you’re taking is actually a natural diuretic. You’re doctor probably wouldn’t know-” Lockhart tried to explain. “What you’re taking right now will make the (weight) cut more efficient.”
“You read about the birth control (pills)?” Cyborg asked him.
“It’s my body, not your body. I know my body. I ask why I take this? I don’t need this in my body to make 140 (pounds). I already made 140 (pounds) before (at UFC 198) (without them),” Cyborg told her dietitian.
“Yeah we made 140 pounds before (at UFC 198), but that’s not how we’re gonna cut to 140 (pounds) every time,” Lockhart replied.
The heated exchange took place just days before her scheduled headlining bout against Lina Lansberg in Brazil this weekend.
Cyborg (16-1-1) is riding a 15-fight win streak and hasn’t lost a fight since 2005. And while the majority of her career was spent fighting at 145 pounds, Dana White was adamant about his disinterest in created a woman’s featherweight division in the UFC when asked about the idea this week.
Do you think Cyborg’s dietitian is right in his recommendation of birth control pills at a weight loss supplement? Or do you agree with Cyborg and think she can make 140 pounds without them? Sound off in the comments section, PENN Nation!
