Cub Swanson demands rematch with Max Holloway, promises he’ll be victorious

Last night, in the main event of UFC 212, streaking Hawaiian star Max Holloway sent a shockwave through the UFC featherweight division by defeating once-dominant featherweight king Jose Aldo with third-round strikes. With this impressive win, Holloway begins what could well be a very dominant reign as UFC featherweight champion.

Though nothing is certain just yet, the next featherweight title shot seems like it belongs to former lightweight champion Frankie Edgar. While Edgar failed twice to capture gold against Aldo, he is currently on an impressive two-fight streak, having recently defeated game foes in Jeremy Stephens and Yair Rodriguez. His receiving a shot at Holloway would not be a hard sell.

There is one member of the MMA community, however, who is likely to be pretty disappointed if the next shot goes to Edgar. That man is Cub Swanson, a long-time contender who has shockingly never competed for WEC or UFC featherweight gold.

Swanson is currently on a fantastic streak of his own, having recently defeated Hacran Dias, Tatsuya Kawajiri, Doo Ho Choi, and most recently Artem Lobov. Given this streak, he believes he deserves the next crack at featherweight gold, and he’s been campaigning for it hard since the moment Holloway won the title from Aldo.

Swanson also campaigned for a fight with Holloway on a post-UFC 212 appearance on FS1.

Do you think the next title shot should go to Frankie Edgar, or does Cub Swanson deserve the honor?
