Back in December of 2016, Cub Swanson and Doo Ho Choi co-authored one of the most legendary slugfests in the history of the UFC, nay in the history of MMA outright. For three frenzied rounds, the two featherweights pelted each other with the kind of heavy artillery that would have flatlined lesser men. It was a war for the ages, a classic clash between veteran and prospect, an unforgettable display of ferocity, grit, and heart. In the end, of course, Swanson would win this fight by unanimous decision – though both he and Choi left the Octagon battled and bloodied.
Despite the fact that they once fought like they were the worst of enemies, it’s clear that Swanson and Choi’s war was nothing personal. Having both been invited to UFC 219 as guest fighters, the two featherweight fan favorites posed for a picture together in the bleachers, offering nothing but smiles a little over a year after they attempted to beat each other toothless.

Since their classic brawl, Swanson has defeated Artem Lobov by decision, and more recently, been submitted by red hot contender Brian Ortega. Choi, meanwhile, hasn’t set foot in the cage since, though that will change when he battles another knockout artist in Jeremy Stephens on January 14 of the new year.
