Yet the long-time featherweight contender decided to take one post-fight shot at his rival — and it was a funny one. Gracie, for those who don’t know, is a known Flat-Earther — part of a group of conspiracists who believe the earth is flat, not a sphere.

UFC featherweight contender Cub Swanson snapped his four-fight losing streak with a decision win over Kron Gracie at UFC Tampa. Now he’s eyeing a rematch with Doo Ho Choi. Speaking to reporters backstage following UFC Tampa, Swanson was asked if he would be interested in a rematch against “The Korean Superboy.” The two fought back in December 2016 at UFC 206 in an incredible fight that won many accolades including “Fight of the Night” and the 2016 “Fight of the Year.” Swanson believes fans would love to see a rematch between the two, and he’s open to running it back.

Cub Swanson will look to snap his four-fight losing streak when he takes on jiu-jitsu ace, Kron Gracie on October 12. The news was first reported by ESPN’s Brett Okamoto. Swanson last fought back at UFC Ottawa where he dropped a split-decision to Shane Burgos. Before that, the longtime veteran of the Octagon was submitted by Renato Moicano, dropped a decision to Frankie Edgar and tapped out to Brian Ortega. The 35-year-old is currently 25-11 as a pro.

Cub Swanson was as shocked as the rest of us when he found out his friend and training partner TJ Dillashaw had tested positive for EPO, an injectable only performance-enhancing drug. That being said, he says that he hand his teammates at Treigning Lab are attempting to forgive the former bantamweight champion. “I kind of found out like everybody else. It was quite a shock, because as far as our team, we have standards and stuff like that about being honest and going through stuff,” Swanson said during a scrum ahead of his UFC Ottawa fight with Shane Burgos (via MMA Junkie). “But he’s still a part of our team, and it’s a decision he made. We forgive him for it.”

Despite the fact that this loss depleted the leverage he had when negotiating his new contract, he says he was still able to hash out a favorable new deal with the promotion. That said, Swanson claims he did receive some significant offers from other promotions. Ultimately, however, he decided to re-sign with the UFC, not just because they offered a pay increase, but because of the promotion’s longstanding involvement with the United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA).

Swanson has been one of the featherweight division’s most fun fighters to watch dating back all the way to 2006 when he debuted in the premier organization for lighter weight fighters, World Extreme Cagefighting.
