Bellator’s Scott Coker responds to Dada 5000’s recent comments

Dhafir Harris, better known as Dada 5000 has gone through a lot since he entered the cage at Bellator 149 on February 19.

Dada 5000 had a lackluster fight with Kimbo Slice and was sent to the hospital in critical condition immediately after the fight. Dada 5000 says that he was brought back to life after he was pronounced dead in the hospital, suffering from cardiac arrest, dehydration, fatigue and renal failure.

Bellator MMA President spoke with Ariel Helwani on Monday’s MMA Hour to address some things regarding Dada 5000.

While many reports said that Dada 5000 suffered the health conditions due to cutting a lot of weight leading up to the fight, Dada 5000 recently said that was not the case. Coker also confirmed that on Monday.

“He didn’t have weight-cutting to do,” Coker said (transcribed by MMA Fighting). “That’s where there’s a lot of misinformation and people aren’t getting their facts straight.”

To add to the storied bout and everything that transpired from the fight, Kimbo tested positive for a steroid after the fight. Dada 5000 says he finds it hard to believe that Bellator did not know Kimbo was on steroids after they booked him for another fight soon after the results of the drug test were released.

“Everybody has their opinion,” Coker said. “Dada, God bless him. I’m glad he’s healthy and safe. He has his own platform to go fight in and he’s gonna do his thing.”

Dada 5000 runs BYB Extreme Fighting Series in Florida and it sounds like a return to Bellator is not something that is planned in the immediate future.
