“@danhardymma just told me he has documentation from the best cardiologists in the UK clearing him to fight again.”
Dan Hardy has not competed inside the octagon since defeating Amir Sadollah via unanimous decision at the “UFC on Fuel TV: Struve vs. Miocic” event in September of 2012.
“I’ve done tests, I’ve got results back. It looks very positive,” Hardy told MMAJunkie. “I’m not sure exactly what I’m going to do with the knowledge and information yet. But I feel confident I have paperwork to prove that I can fight again.”
Dan Hardy’s biggest mixed martial arts moment came at UFC 111 in March of 2010 where he challenged Georges St-Pierre for the promotions welterweight title.
Unfortunately for fans of “The Outlaw”, Hardy was not able to leave UFC 111 with the belt, as “Rush” defeated the product of Nottingham, England via unanimous decision.
Hardy told MMAJunkie that it would take a “big fight” to bring him back.
“It’s been four years since I’ve done a training camp so I have to see how my body feels. I’m walking at 185 (pounds), I feel strong, I feel lean. I feel better psychologically than I ever have in my career.”
He continued:
“I’ll reiterate: I’m not interested in belts or rankings,” he said. “If I’m stepping back in it’s gonna be a big fight. I’ll step in and have a good war, and then I’ll step away and back into commentary.Honestly I think I’m more valuable to the sport in the role that I’m doing now.”
