BREAKING | Dana White Breaks Silence on Khabib Nurmagomedov vs Tony Ferguson at UFC 223

Yesterday a ton of reports flooded the net like a tsunami. News broke that Khabib Nurmagomedov and Tony Ferguson wouldn’t just be fighting each other, but that it’d be for the undisputed title after Conor McGregor is stripped. We at BJ Penn followed up with sources close to Tony Ferguson and was able to confirm the news that it was a done deal. Some reports seem to counter the news, but it looks like we were on the right track. Dana White himself just made the news official today: It’s on!

While it still hasn’t been made “official” by the UFC yet, we assumed it would be saved for a big announcement at the upcoming UFC 220. Leaks and breaking reports coupled with being asked about it on the Toucher and Rich show may have forced Dana White to address it. With everything looking good to go, can we start to get excited by this gigantic fight that the UFC has tried to put together four times now?

Two pull-outs were from Khabib Nurmagomedov, while Tony Ferguson became injured once. Clearly we all have PTSD when it comes to this particular fight, but it’s still the best available lightweight fight in the world and something we have been looking forward to for years now. Nurmagomedov is still undefeated in 25 fights, while Ferguson is on a 10-fight wins streak of his own with an interim title to boast about. At UFC 223 in Brooklyn, these two will fight to decide who is the absolute greatest 155 pound fighter on planet Earth as Conor McGregor sits and watches it unfold like Shao Kahn from his throne.
