Dana White discusses the “Internet Bulls**t” that is Conor McGregor vs Nate Diaz 3
The UFC crowned Tony Ferguson as their interim lightweight champion at last night’s UFC 216 event in Las Vegas, this after “El Cucuy” submitted Kevin Lee in the pay-per-view main event.
Ferguson was able to weather an early storm from Lee and eventually forced “The MoTown Phenom” to tapout to a triangle choke in round three.
Following his title earning victory, Ferguson immediately turned his attention to current UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor in his post-fight interview.
“Where you at McNuggets, ya f**king piece of s**t,” Ferguson bellowed into the mic in his post-fight interview with Joe Rogan. “I’m gonna kick your ass. You better come and f**king defend that belt. Defend or vacate, motherf**ker.”
Conor McGregor has not competed inside the octagon since defeating Eddie Alvarez via second-round knockout at UFC 205 in November of 2016 which earned the Irishman the UFC’s lightweight title.
“Mystic Mac” most recently took his talents to the squared circle where he squared off with undefeated boxing legend Floyd Mayweather this past August in Las Vegas.
McGregor would end up suffering a tenth-round TKO loss to Mayweather, but his performance in the boxing super fight only raised his stock as a fighter.
When speaking of his return to the UFC, McGregor has hinted that he would like to have a rubber match with bitter rival Nate Diaz.
The McGregor vs Diaz trilogy fight was briefly linked to December’s UFC 219 event but according to UFC President Dana White that is just “internet bulls**t”.
“Nobody’s talked about (Nate) Diaz. Diaz has never been talked about. That’s Internet bull***t. Tony’s the interim champion. Conor’s the champion. It’s the fight that makes sense. It’s the fight that has to happen, it doesn’t ‘make sense,’ it’s the fight that has to happen.”
