Dana White responds to Tyron Woodley calling him a “drama queen”
Recently, UFC President Dana White and UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley have continued to trade verbal blows in various interviews following controversial comments made by Woodley in regards to how he feels his race plays a role in popularity in MMA.
Dana White wasn’t too pleased with Woodley’s comments, which resulted in the UFC President calling Woodley a “drama queen” in a recent interview. This then led to Woodley responding on this week’s edition of The MMA Hour, in which he stated:
“How is Dana White gonna call me a drama queen?” Woodley said. “He’s the biggest drama queen. I learned from the best.”
“I just think that we’ve seen Dana, if you get Dana mad, he gets really mad,” Woodley added. “And then really quickly — I think he’s mad at so many people, I think he forgets he’s mad at you. And he almost just wipes it from his memory. I thought it was actually kind of funny when he called me a drama queen.”
Now, in a new interview with ESPN, White was asked if Woodley was upset by how the UFC was promoting him leading up to UFC 209 on Saturday.
He responded:
“Who knows? Listen, Tyron, that’s all great stuff. Great stuff. You fought to a draw in your last fight. Finish it,” White said. “Finish the fight. [Thompson] was resilient. It was that type of a fight. It was a back-and-forth fight. It was an amazing fight. It was a draw. If that’s what you want people to focus on, is what a stud champion you are, then go in there and finish it on Saturday night and nobody will be questioning you whatsoever.”
White of course is referring to Woodley’s UFC 205 co-main event majority draw with Stephen Thompson, which saw the champ retain his belt after 2 of three judges scored the fight a draw. He of course will have the chance to secure his first win as champion this Saturday in the main event of UFC 209.
