Dana White updates on his relationship with Conor McGregor: “it’s good”
Shortly after Conor McGregor’s Thursday afternoon rampage in Brooklyn, New York, UFC President Dana White shared the details of his latest conversation with the Irishman.
“Conor and I talked through text yesterday,” White said on First Things First. “Probably the worst conversation we’ve had, but yeah, we talked yesterday before he turned himself in.”

White later offered a bit more insight into his initial conversation with McGregor. Apparently, they didn’t actually talk about McGregor’s rampage, but instead argued about the language White used in a subsequent interview with ESPN.
“Obviously, we didn’t have a good conversation yesterday, and it wasn’t really about the situation,” White said. “He said that might interview with ESPN [in which I discussed the ordeal]… he wasn’t happy with my interview. So we got into more about that.”

While was clearly initially quite frustrated with McGregor, their relationship already seems to have improved. Speaking at the UFC 223 post-fight press conference, White assured he and the Irish superstar have a mutual respect for each other.
“We talked, it’s good,” White told the media (via MMAMania). “I think that there’s a mutual respect between us and obviously this week, I had so many things thrown at me. To focus on this show was insane. We’ll get back and we’ll focus on Conor McGregor.”
In the wake of his rampage in Brooklyn, Conor McGregor turned himself in to the NYPD. After spending the night in custody, he appeared in court and was hit with a litany of charges. The former UFC lightweight and featherweight champ has been allowed to return to Ireland, but will have to return to the states for a June 14 court date. If he’s able to get all of this squared away, he might just be the next man in line for the new UFC lightweight champ Khabib Nurmagomedov— that is, if Nurmagomedov is willing to give him the chance.
