While UFC 274 as an event was incredibly strong with a series of entertaining fights taking place throughout the night in Phoenix, it wasn’t all smooth sailing in the days leading up to fight night.

UFC Hall of Fame inductee Khabib Nurmagomedov wants the world’s top MMA promotion to cut to the chase with Islam Makhachev. On May 7, Charles Oliveira went one-on-one with Justin Gaethje. The bout headlined UFC 274. Oliveira was stripped of the UFC Lightweight Championship due to tipping the scales half a pound over the limit. Had Gaethje defeated “do Bronx,” he would’ve been recognized as the 155-pound titleholder.

Michael Chandler says Dana White privilege is real and that is because he is Dana’s favorite fighter. Chandler was a top free agent signing back in 2020 and was the backup fighter for Khabib Nurmagomedov vs. Justin Gaethje before even fighting once in the UFC. After knocking out Dan Hooker in his promotional debut, he then fought Charles Oliveira for the lightweight title in a losing effort. Now, just days ahead of his bout against Tony Ferguson at UFC 274, ‘Iron’ claims he’s Dana White’s favorite fighter.

The UFC has parted ways with another sixteen fighters according to recent reports from @UFCRosterWatch on Twitter. It should also be noted that it has not been confirmed if these moves were outright releases or contracts which were not renewed.

Tony Ferguson does not like the way he has been treated by the UFC. Ferguson is set to return to the Octagon at UFC 274 against Michael Chandler in his first fight since last May. He’s currently on a three-fight losing streak and has been vocal about fighters like Chandler getting “Dana White privilege” and now before his return, he ripped White and the UFC for his mistreatment.

MMA analyst Chael Sonnen believes Dana White may have felt betrayed by Francis Ngannou appearing in the ring with Tyson Fury on Saturday night. Over the weekend, one of the biggest combat sports events of the year went down at Wembley Stadium in London, England. A crowd of over 94,000 people were in attendance to see Tyson Fury defend The Ring and WBC heavyweight titles against Dillian Whyte and in the end, ‘The Gypsy King’ made it look easy before securing a sixth-round knockout win over his rival.

UFC President Dana White won’t commit to what’s next for Conor McGregor until he’s been given medical clearance. McGregor has been on the sidelines due to a broken tibia and fibula. He suffered the injury during his July 2021 trilogy fight against Dustin Poirier. The “Notorious” one underwent successful surgery and made it clear that he would take his time in the recovery process.

Henry Cejudo, 35, (16-2 MMA) announced his retirement after successfully defending his bantamweight title against Dominick Cruz (24-3 MMA) back in 2020 at UFC 249. ‘Triple C‘, the former UFC double champion, has always claimed he would return to the Octagon for the right price.

Francis Ngannou is the current champion but there are some question marks about his future. He underwent successful knee surgery, so he will be out of action for a while. On top of that, he is in the midst of a contract dispute with the UFC.

Jake Paul and Dana White have not seen eye-to-eye but the brash YouTuber-turned-boxer believes he will fight in the UFC at least once. Paul is currently an undefeated boxer but has recently hinted at making the transition to MMA. He released training videos of him practicing kicks and has also pointed at his wrestling background from high school. Although many expect him to take an MMA fight in another organization due to the fact White doesn’t like him, Paul says it’s undeniable he will fight in the UFC.

Last Saturday night at UFC 273, Aljamain Sterling shocked the world by grinding out a split decision win over rival Petr Yan. While some did score the fight for “No Mercy”, nobody can deny that “Funk Master” performed above and beyond what many had expected of him.

Brendan Schaub has blasted Dana White over his recent comments about Aljamain Sterling’s fight with Petr Yan. Last weekend, ‘Funk Master’ faced off against ‘No Mercy’ at UFC 273. After grueling five-rounds, Sterling won the bout against Yan via split decision. With the victory, he moved to a controversial 2-0 in his series against the former champion.
