The UFC parts ways with four more fighters

The UFC has parted ways with another four fighters according to recent reports from @UFCRosterWatch on ‘Twitter’. It should also be noted that it has not been confirmed if all of these moves were outright releases or simply contracts which were not renewed.

For the last couple of years, Alex Volkanovski has been proving himself as one of the best fighters in all of mixed martial arts. The reigning UFC featherweight champion has seen off the challenge of everyone the promotion has put in his way including The Korean Zombie, Brian Ortega and even Max Holloway.

UFC President Dana White has a message for those who think the UFC went full-on WWE this weekend. UFC 279 had quite the last-minute switcheroo. Khamzat Chimaev vs. Nate Diaz, Tony Ferguson vs. Li Jingliang, and Kevin Holland vs. Daniel Rodriguez were all planned for the event. Chimaev ended up missing weight and as a result, Diaz was booked to fight Ferguson, Chimaev took on Holland, and Jingliang fought Rodriguez.

Diaz (21-13 MMA), a former lightweight title challenger and TUF 5 winner, was fighting out the final bout of his existing UFC contract this evening. ‘The Stockton Slugger’ was originally slated to face Khamzat Chimaev (11-0 MMA) in tonight’s event headliner. However, after ‘Borz’ badly missed the welterweight limit of 171lbs, the promotion decided to switch things up and have ‘The Stockton Slugger’ take on ‘El Cucuy’ instead.
