UFC light heavyweight contender Glover Teixeira pleaded with UFC president Dana White to get the next title shot at 205lbs. At UFC Vegas 13, Teixeira defeated top contender Thiago Santos via third-round submission in a back-and-forth war that won “Fight of the Night” honors. It’s the fifth straight win for Teixeira, who figures to take Santos’ spot at the top contender in the division. But it still might not be enough to earn him the next title shot against UFC light heavyweight champion Jan Blachowicz instead of middleweight champ Israel Adesanya.

Undisputed UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov has opened up on his decision to retire from mixed martial arts. Khabib last fought at UFC 254 in late October, when he defeated Justin Gaethje, widely viewed as his toughest challenger to date, with a second-round triangle choke. After the win, which elevated his record to an incredible 29-0, he announced his retirement from MMA.

Ortiz, who won a city council seat in his hometown of Huntington Beach in this week, recently shared a link to a petition demanding a vote recount in the state. While it’s very possible recounts will be necessary in some states during the ongoing election, that is not the case in California, where former Vice President Joe Biden won decisively.

Ortiz, the former UFC light heavyweight champion, had been in the running for this position for several months, and ultimately achieved his political goal this by winning 34,901 votes—14.26 percent of the votes cast overall.

UFC president Dana White says the UFC is working to “loosen up” archaic marijuana rules, but warned “you can’t have guys showing up high.” On Wednesday, several UFC fighters including welterweight Niko Price and lightweight Kevin Croom were suspended by the Nevada State Athletic Commission. They tested positive for marijuana in their system during recent bouts in Las Vegas. Price tested positive following a draw against Donald Cerrone, while Croom tested positive in a pre-fight test. His submission win over Roosevelt Roberts was overturned to a No Contest.

Welterweight prospect Ignacio Bahamondes landed an incredible front kick knockout on Wednesday’s edition of Dana White’s Contender Series. The 23-year-old Bahamondes took on Edson Gomez on the latest edition of the Contender Series in an action-packed welterweight fight. The first round saw both men land some big shots on each other, but in the second round, the youngster Bahamondes took it to Gomez and really made an impression for UFC president Dana White.

Former two-division UFC champ Daniel Cormier believes the UFC made the right move by allowing Khabib Nurmagomedov to keep his title. Nurmagomedov, the UFC lightweight champion and current pound-for-pound king of MMA, announced his retirement after he submitted Justin Gaethje at UFC 254. Despite this announcement, UFC President Dana White expressed optimism that the lightweight star will fight again.

UFC middleweight Robert Whittaker has questioned Dana White’s claim that he doesn’t want to fight Israel Adesanya. Whittaker, the former champion lost his title to “The Last Stylebender” last October, but since then, he’s been able to bounce back in style with decision wins over fellow contenders Darren Till and Jared Cannonier. It seemed as if he was destined to square off with Adesanya once again in a rematch, but White recently claimed that “The Reaper” turned the bout down.

Although we still have some unanswered questions about the show’s reincarnation, including who the coaches will be, the UFC shed some light on what TUF’s return would look like following the official announcement of the show’s comeback on the UFC Vegas 12 broadcast.

UFC president Dana White discussed where Uriah Hall sits in the UFC middleweight division after his KO win over Anderson Silva on Saturday. Hall picked up the biggest win of his career in the main event of UFC Vegas 12 as he was able to stop Silva in the fourth round with punches after a back-and-forth first three rounds. Despite being 45, Silva looked sharp and fast in the fight as he was able to hang in there for the first three rounds before Hall finally landed the finishing blows in the fourth. The win over Hall gives Silva a three-fight win streak and presumably a top-10 ranking.

UFC president Dana White says the UFC is targeting the rematch between heavyweights Stipe Miocic and Francis Ngannou to take place in March. Miocic defended the UFC heavyweight championship in August at UFC 252 when he won a unanimous decision over rival Daniel Cormier in the pair’s trilogy bout. White confirmed that Ngannou — who has won four straight fights by knockout — would be next in line to fight Miocic for the belt. But after Jon Jones made the announcement he would be pursuing a title shot at heavyweight as well, some thought Jones might skip by Ngannou.

UFC president Dana White shared his take on Robert Whittaker’s big win at UFC 254 and what could be next for the former champ. Whittaker defeated Jared Cannonier via unanimous decision in a back-and-forth fight that served as the co-main event at UFC 254. Whittaker looked sharp in the bout as he was able to utilize his boxing to set up a late head kick in the third round that nearly finished his opponent. Cannonier was able to survive, making it one of the best fights of the night and a huge win for Whittaker’s resume as he looks to move back up the 185lbs ladder.

UFC president Dana White weighed in on the recent domestic violence allegations made against Mike Perry by his ex-wife Danielle Nickerson. Nickerson recently spoke in a lengthy interview with MMAjunkie.com about her allegedly violent relationship with Perry, who she said struck her on numerous occasions. The UFC welterweight star got ahead of things by releasing a statement denying any of the allegations. But apparently, Nickerson has photos of the bruises that she says Perry gave her, which has led to some fans believing Perry should be pulled from his upcoming fight against Robbie Lawler at UFC 255 while this all plays out in the courts.
