UFC President Dana White has shared his thoughts on the legacy of former UFC heavyweight and light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier, who retired after a close, decision loss to Stipe Miocic in the main event of UFC 252 last Saturday. White was asked about Cormier at the UFC 252 post-fight press conference, and praised him as a fighter than exceeded all of his initial expectations as both a light heavyweight and heavyweight.

Now, however, as is the nature of MMA fans, the attention has turned towards what the future may hold for the Ohio-based star.

Cormier and Miocic threw down for a third time this evening in Las Vegas, this after splitting their first two meeting. In their initial encounter at UFC 226, ‘DC’ was able to put Miocic to sleep in the very first round. However, in the pairs second meeting at UFC 241, it was the Ohio native who scored a finish, stopping Daniel Cormier in the fourth round via TKO.

Rohskopf took on Hubbard at UFC Fight Night: Blaydes vs. Volkov on June 20. Between the second and third rounds of the fight, he asked his coaches to end the bout, and didn’t change his tune when his handlers attempted to encourage him to continue.

UFC President Dana White believes the winner of the upcoming trilogy between Stipe Miocic and Daniel Cormier will be the greatest heavyweight in MMA history. Miocic and Cormier will meet in the main event of UFC 252 this Saturday, with Miocic’s heavyweight title on the line. The heavyweight rivals have already fought twice previously. They first met in 2018 when Cormier, then the light heavyweight champion, moved up to heavyweight division to challenge Miocic for the division’s ultimate prize. Cormier won that first contest by first-round knockout. After Cormier defended the heavyweight title against Derrick Lewis later that year, he and Miocic then rematched in 2019. That time around, Miocic evened the scored, weathering some early adversity to stop Cormier in the fourth round and reclaim the heavyweight title.

White and the UFC hooked up with Mayweather in August 2017 to put on a boxing superfight with UFC superstar Conor McGregor. The event sold 4.3 million pay-per-views and proved to be a smash hit at the box office. Ever since the first Mayweather vs. McGregor fight, there have been talks about the UFC hooking up with Mayweather for another co-promoted event, but so far nothing has come out of the rumors.

The UFC just finished its first foray on Fight Island on Yas Island in Abu Dhabi during the month of July and it was a huge success. The UFC held a total of four events within a two-week span, including a massive pay-per-view in UFC 251: Usman vs. Masvidal that did 1.3 million buys. White had been saying for months leading into it that Fight Island would be big for his company, but it was even bigger than anyone could have expected.

Still, White has remained adamant that McGregor is retired.
