Diego Sanchez opens up on UFC release: "Dana White won’t answer my calls now, I’m never gonna get sh*t from them"

TUF 1 winner Diego Sanchez has opened up on his UFC release claiming that promotional President Dana White will no longer answer his calls. Earlier this week it was announced that Sanchez (30-13 MMA) had been pulled from his scheduled May 8 bout with Donald Cerrone. That news was followed by the rather shocking announcement that ‘The Nightmare’ had received his walking papers from UFC officials.

Just two weeks after blaming matchmaker Sean Shelby for allowing “wild man” Jeremy Stephens to push and injure Drakker Klose at the UFC Vegas 24 weigh-ins, the promotional President found himself standing in similar shoes on Friday afternoon.

The online sparring between Jon Jones and current UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou continued on Saturday afternoon. Prior to UFC 260, it was thought that the winner of Ngannou vs. Miocic 2 would defend their title against Jones next. ‘Bones’ of course had vacated the promotions light heavyweight strap back in the summer of 2020, citing his intentions of pursuing the UFC’s heavyweight crown.

UFC president Dana White has reacted to the news that the promotion has parted ways with MMA legend Diego Sanchez. It was revealed overnight that Sanchez, who has been with the UFC for 16 years, has now left after what appeared to be a mutual agreement between the two parties. The move came despite Sanchez winning three of his last five fights with his final appearance being a decision loss to Jake Matthews last September.

UFC president Dana White says he is not interested in booking a trilogy fight between UFC champions Amanda Nunes and Valentina Shevchenko. Shevchenko and Nunes have fought twice previously, with the Brazilian winning both times, the first time via unanimous decision and the second time via split decision. Though Nunes is 2-0 over Shevchenko, many fans feel as though Nunes got her toughest tests in those fights. With Shevchenko running through the field at 125lbs with another finish over Jessica Andrade at UFC 261, there have been suggestions that she could fight Nunes for a third time. However, White doesn’t have much interest in doing that fight anytime soon.

YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul sent a message to UFC president Dana White, suggesting that the UFC doesn’t pay its fighters enough money. Paul stopped Ben Askren last weekend at the Triller Fight Club boxing event in a fight that UFC president Dana White reportedly bet against Paul winning. Since Askren was stopped, White has criticized Paul, saying that while he credits him for making money off of boxing, he doesn’t believe he’s a real fighter and has no interest in having him fight in the UFC.

UFC president Dana White shared his thoughts on the confrontation that happened on Saturday between Jake Paul and Daniel Cormier at UFC 261. Paul and Cormier got into a bit of a war of words on social media last week after Paul knocked out Ben Askren in the main event of the Triller Fight Club. On Saturday night, Paul was in attendance at UFC 261 in Jacksonville, Florida, and Cormier was commentating the event. At one point during the show, the two got into an altercation at the venue that was captured on video. Following the event, White spoke about the incident between the two.

The UFC 261 fight card features a total of three title fights and is headlined by a highly anticipated welterweight championship rematch between Kamaru Usman and Jorge Masvidal.

White was a recent guest on the Bill Simmons podcast where he confirmed that the UFC is currently targeting a Ngannou vs. Lewis rematch, this because ‘Bones’ wanted $30 million to fight the promotions reigning heavyweight champion.

UFC president Dana White confirmed that promotional superstar Jon Jones is hoping to make $30 million to fight heavyweight Francis Ngannou. After Ngannou defeated Stipe Miocic at UFC 260 to become the new UFC heavyweight champion, White mentioned that Derrick Lewis would likely be next in line to fight for the belt. That confused a lot of fans who assumed that Jones would be the next man in line to fight the winner of Jones vs. Miocic for the title. Jones later took to his social media to say that the UFC was lowballing him and that their offer of $10 million was not enough to take the fight. Now we have a better idea of the number that Jones is looking at.

UFC president Dana White says that UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman is now the greatest fighter ever to compete at 170lbs. Up until now, most people would have same that Georges St-Pierre was the greatest welterweight ever. But in his last fight, Usman broke GSP’s record of most consecutive wins at 170lbs with his knockout win over Gilbert Burns to improve to 13-0. Usman hasn’t lost since entering the UFC in 2015 following a stint on TUF. He has fought and defeated many of the division’s best, including Colby Covington, Jorge Masvidal, and Leon Edwards. Not many opponents have been able to do anything to him as he’s been utterly dominant.

The UFC is bringing a huge card with it, including the main event rematch between rivals UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman and Jorge Masvidal. As well, UFC women’s flyweight champion Valentina Shevchenko fights Jessica Andrade, and UFC women’s strawweight champion Weili Zhang takes on Rose Namajunas. It is a great card on paper and the fact that fans will be in attendance makes it better.

UFC president Dana White confirmed that Colby Covington will face the winner of UFC 261’s main event between Kamaru Usman and Jorge Masvidal. Usman and Masvidal meet this Saturday night in the main event of the UFC 261 pay-per-view card. Some were surprised that Masvidal got the rematch considering he just lost to Usman in his last fight at UFC 251 last summer on Fight Island, as many thought Covington would get the rematch with Usman since he just defeated Tyron Woodley via TKO. But the UFC decided to give Masvidal the rematch, which leaves Covington without an opponent.
