Dana White: "there's no way" Ortiz vs. Sonnen was fixed
Tom Taylor - February 1, 2017
Late last month, a 42-year-old Tito Ortiz stepped into the cage for a final time against the 39-year-old Chael Sonnen. Ortiz won this fight in impressive fashion, tapping Sonnen with a rear-naked choke in the first round to ride off into the sunset on a win. Unfortunately, Ortiz’s big win was marred by widespread speculation that the fight might have been fixed. Many fans, and even a few reputable MMA media members, questioned the legitimacy of Ortiz’s win, saying that it didn’t look like his choke was properly locked up.
Dana White: Jon Jones likely to get immediate title shot when he returns
Tom Taylor - February 1, 2017
Last year, in the main event of UFC 200, former UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones was expected to take on current champion Daniel Cormier in a bid to reclaim the title that was once his. Regrettably, Jones was forced out of this planned fight after a failed drug test, and was subsequently handed a year-long suspension (retroactive to the date of the failed test). In July, Jones will once again be eligible to compete. And though there has been some speculation that he might take a tune up fight before fighting for the title again, UFC President Dana White recently explained that he expects Jones will receive an immediate title shot upon his return. White gave his thoughts on the situation on a recent episode of the UFC Unfiltered podcast.

Dana White on Amanda Nunes' featherweight goals: pump the brakes
Tom Taylor - January 29, 2017
Late last year, in the main event of UFC 207, Amanda Nunes made her first defense of the women’s bantamweight title with a 48-second destruction of returning former champ Ronda Rousey. Shortly after this win, the champ began campaigning for a fight with the winner of UFC’s upcoming inaugural women’s featherweight title fight, which will pit former bantamweight champ Holly Holm against kickboxing veteran Germaine de Randamie. According to UFC president Dana White, however, Nunes might be getting a bit ahead of herself. When asked about Nunes’ featherweight ambition at the post-fight press conference for the UFC’s Saturday return to Denver, White suggested that Nunes should defend her title before chasing additional titles in other divisions. While the UFC President has clearly forgotten that Nunes’ defeat of Rousey was a title defense (she won the title by submitting Miesha Tate in July), his message remained clear.

That offer didn’t sit too well with UFC President Dana White, who appeared on ‘The Herd’ this week to offer Mayweather $25 million to fight McGregor, while saying that the pair could talk about how the PPV sales would be split. Mayweather laughed off White’s offer, reiterating that he wouldn’t fight for less than $100 million, a figure he had mentioned consistently throughout the course of the last several months.
