Daniel Cormier reacts to UFC-bound Brock Lesnar losing WWE title at Summerslam

Last night, in the main event of WWE’s exciting Summerslam event in Brooklyn, NY, Brock Lesnar surrendered his universal title to Roman Reigns. In the eyes of many fans, this seemed like a necessary precursor for Lesnar’s much-discussed return to the UFC.

If Lesnar does indeed return to the UFC, which seems like a certainty at this point, it will be to a heavyweight title shot opposite newly minted heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier.

Cormier, who is a long-time pro wrestling fan, was watching Summerslam, and had a few choice words for Lesnar after his loss. In particular, Cormier seemed to take notice of Lesnar’s reduced size, which would seem to imply he’s taking his USADA drug testing seriously ahead of his UFC return.

“Old Brock is looking smaller thru the middle,” Cormier said on Twitter as the match began. “He getting ready to really come and get that ass whipped!!!! Have fun in this [WWE] title match because when we clash I’m in that ass!!!!”

“No more title now he can come and chase mine,” Cormier said after Lesnar’s loss. “Sorry [Brock Lesnar] result will be the same!!!!”

The widespread expectation is that Brock Lesnar will battle Daniel Cormier sometime early in 2019, before Cormier’s planned retirement in March. Before the pair meet, Lesnar will have to serve the remainder of a USADA-administered suspension stemming from his 2016 no contest with Mark Hunt. Shortly after this 2016 bout, it was announced that Lesnar had tested positive for the estrogen blocker clomiphene, which resulted in a year-long suspension. This suspension was paused, half-way, when Lesnar “retired” from MMA to return to WWE.
