Daniel Cormier recounts fight week run-in with Volkan Oezdemir and his “little minions”

By Tom Taylor - January 18, 2018

UFC light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier endures a very tough cut down to his division’s 205-pound limit, and that’s no secret. If you’ve seen any footage of the champ in the immediate lead-up to his Saturday night showdown with Volkan Oezdemir, it’s clear that this present weight cut is no exception. While he probably has it well under control, he certainly looks a little rough.

Apparently, Oezdemir hasn’t hesitated to let Cormier know that he looks a somewhat depleted. Cormier detailed a quick run-in with Oezdemir and his “minions” in a Thursday afternoon Instagram post.

“Volkan tried to say I look like death, when I asked him bout his weight this dude told me he’s heavier than I am lol,” the light heavyweight champion said in his post. “Then his little minions ran out of the cafeteria to try and defend him. I told em to stay in their place before they get what volkan has coming to him on Saturday night!”

Who do you think comes out on top in this weekend’s UFC 220 Daniel Cormier vs. Volkan Oezdemir light heavyweight title fight? Do you think Cormier will successfully make the light heavyweight limit? Join the debate in the comments section!
