Daniel Cormier Shares a Photo and Statement From His Hard Weight Cut

By Justin Golightly - January 19, 2018

We are only a day away from UFC 220 and Daniel Cormier attempting to defend his title against hard-hitting Volkan Oezdemir. So many fights have been derailed by the early weigh-ins, luckily that isn’t the case for today. Cormier hit the scales successfully today, but that doesn’t mean it was a walk in the park. The UFC light heavyweight shared a message after weighing in, complete with a picture of him looking like a suffocating mummy wrapping in a pile of white towels.

Daniel Cormier

“It’s worth it but this is the worst sh-t ever honestly. Someone has to pay for this sh-t. UFC 220 can’t wait. Thanks to my team for helping me get through making weight. I love you guys. Tyler ‘Melee’ Minton, you are the man. George Lockhart and Dan Leith [are] the best in the business.” — Daniel Cormier via Twitter.

You can see that Daniel Cormier thanked Tyler Minton personally by name. If the name doesn’t ring a bell, he’s the same nutritionist that helped manage Khabib Nurmagomedov‘s recent successful weight cut, silencing critics and playing a part in Nurmagomedov’s UFC 219 redemption story. Regardless of the expertise surrounding Team Lockhart’s methods, weight cutting is never easy as evident by Cormier’s comments. Cormier was the last to weigh-in today and made championship weight right on the dot. The co-main is on for tomorrow’s UFC 220 fight card.
