In March, the UFC light heavyweight champion was stopped by police in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Jones was arrested for a DWI, having an open container, and negligent use of a firearm. This isn’t the first time “Bones” has had a brush with the law, as he was also arrested for a hit and run in 2015.

Fans weren’t the only ones duped by a fake Ariel Helwani account this week, as former two-division UFC champion Daniel Cormier was also tricked into believing a false announcement about Khabib Nurmagomedov. Over the weekend, a fraudulent account impersonating Ariel Helwani (spelled Helvani) reported some breaking news. The account announced that UFC president Dana White and Vladimir Putin had arranged for UFC lightweight champ Khabib Nurmagomedov to travel the US to fight Tony Ferguson in their scheduled UFC 249 bout. The Twitter account used the same profile picture as Helwani’s official account, so it certainly looked the part.

Daniel Cormier knows why Stipe Miocic is reluctant to fight him. Cormier and Miocic have fought twice before where they first met at UFC 226. There, “DC” knocked out Miocic in the first round to become the heavyweight champ. They had their rematch at UFC 241 where Cormier arguably won the first three rounds before Miocic earned a fourth-round TKO win to reclaim his heavyweight belt.

Cormier and Miocic have fought each other each of the past two summers, with the pair splitting a pair of memorable bouts with one knockout win apiece. DC won the first fight at UFC 226 when he knocked Miocic out in shocking fashion only to see the former champ get his belt back with a superb comeback knockout win at UFC 241. The two are now expected to have a trilogy fight whenever the UFC schedule resumes later this year.

On Thursday, news came out that Jones was arrested for a DWI, negligent use of a firearm and possession of an open container. Earlier this month, the UFC president Dana White announced the organization would cancel upcoming shows in wake of the Coronavirus pandemic. He has assured that Tony Ferguson vs Khabib Nurmagomedov on April 18th will still take place, but will likely happen outside of the U.S. Currently, all live sporting events are affected by Coronavirus restrictions, so it is uncertain when MMA will return to normal.

That’s probably because UFC 248 featured precisely zero ranked fighters outside the main and co-main events. That being said, the updated UFC rankings do feature some interesting changes. Most notably, Weili Zhang has surpassed Valentina Shevchenko on the women’s pound-for-pound list on the strength of her UFC 248 defeat of Joanna Jedrzejczyk. Daniel Cormier has also finally been removed from the UFC light heavyweight rankings, clearing the path for a host of other light heavyweights to move up.

Daniel Cormier feels proud of being recognized for testing clean for over 50 United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) tests. The former heavyweight champion, Cormier has been honored today by the United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) after 50 of his tests have come back negative. Holly Holm was recently honored for accomplishing 50 clean tests. However, UFC VP of Athlete Health and Performance Jeff Novitzky revealed the Cormier was in fact first and has now surpassed the 54 test mark. Novitzky praised DC for his commitment to fighting clean and fair.
