Darren Till Ready to ‘Devastate Stephen Thompson’s Life’ if He Ever Signs the Contract

By Justin Golightly - March 21, 2018

Tick tock, tick tock, tick tock. We still have awhile before UFC Liverpool, but the UFC did their big, snazzy announcement package with Darren till front-and-center yet he still doesn’t have an opponent. Till has been eyeing number one contender Stephen Thompson, but he may not be fully healed by May 27th. Regardless, that won’t stop Darren Till from calling him out.

Darren Till

“I made it all happen. I worked hard and believed in myself. People can climb on this train or jump off. I do not care. I did it all. I asked to face Robbie Lawler or Jorge Masvidal [at UFC Liverpool]. I know they talked to Masvidal, but he said he would not be in shape in time. I do not know who my opponent will be, but I do not care. Stephen Thompson is a great striker. He’s smart, he’s not a brawler. His style is very well thought out, just like mine is as well.”

“I know I can be smarter than him in the Octagon. I don’t want to beat him after five rounds. I want to knock him out. I want to devastate his life. Even if I beat Thompson I won’t grab the microphone and ask for a title shot. I want to prove I’m the best and not be like Colby Covington who defeated some guys and wants to force his way into a title shot because he knows he’s not good enough. I want to defeat everybody, put the belt around my shoulder and think, ‘Now what? Who can beat me?’ I want no shortcuts on my way to the belt. If I’m bested on my way there, screw it.” — Darren Till speaking to Combate.

It may not be that bad though, with Thompson and Jorge Masvidal both not able to make it to UFC Liverpool, Kamaru Usman has recently rose to the occasion. He and Till have gone back and forth talking trash to each other, so let’s hope they’ll get booked into an incredible and high ranking welterweight battle.
