Undefeated welterweight sensation Darren Till will face his stiffest challenge to date when he squares off with former two-time UFC title challenger Stephen “Wonderboy” Thompson in the main event of UFC Liverpool on May 27.

BJPENN.com was first to report the now highly anticipated Till vs. Thompson matchup earlier last week.

Darren Till recently sat down with the “Obviosuly Fight Talk” podcast where he discussed fighting “Wonderboy” in his backyard of Liverpool.

“I think it’s going to be the most interesting fight I’ll ever have in my life, just because of his fight IQ and mine,” Till stated (via MMAFighting). “Let’s see who wins, lets see who’s the best in the division. Now it’s time to see.”

“The Gorilla” plans on outclassing Thompson on the feet before eventually scoring a knockout in the third-round.

“Striking-wise, I don’t think it’s too early because I’ve been striking my whole life and so has he,” Till said. “I wouldn’t say [it’s early] in terms of that and even in MMA, I wouldn’t say his wrestling caliber is any better than mine, or his ground game. I know he’s got some good training partners, Chris Weidman and that, but I don’t see where he is better than me anywhere. I just think my striking is better than his and I’m going to beat him.”

Till continued:

“As soon as I beat Stephen everyone will know that I’m the best striker in the welterweight division. As soon as I beat him on the 27th then people can stop talking about my hype train. Third round knockout.”

Darren Till was most recently seen in action at last year’s UFC Fight Night 118 event where he scored a sensational first-round knockout victory over Donald Cerrone.

Meanwhile, Stephen Thompson last competed at November’s UFC 217 where he picked up a unanimous decision victory over the always dangerous Jorge Masvidal.
