Back in April, Darren Till was arrested in the Canary Islands for damaging a hotel room and stealing a taxi. Now, just over two months later, the Englishman has opened up on the incident in an interview with Fighters Only. “Truthfully and honestly, we went on a lad’s birthday and we booked it for the while. We were gone for two days and we were out there having a good time. It’s a nice place,” Darren Till said (via MMA News). “Then we were in the hotel, and there were these other guys in the room. And we weren’t having trouble, but just a little bother broke out – not fights and whatnot. Obviously, the hotel didn’t get trashed. There was no criminal damage. But things got thrown and whatever.”

Darren Till is keeping a low profile. Following his recent arrest in Spain for allegedly trashing a hotel room and stealing a taxi, the former UFC welterweight title challenger has deactivated both his personal Twitter and Instagram accounts. The 26-year-old didn’t serve any time or face any serious legal issues for the incident. However he did receive a heavy fine which included €10,000 ($11,150 USD) to the Costa Adeje hotel, €480 ($525 USD) for hotel damages and €360 ($401 USD) for theft of the taxi cab.

According to a report from The Daily Mail, former UFC welterweight title challenger Darren Till has been fined more than 700 euro ($788 USD) in Spanish court after ransacking a hotel room and stealing a taxi in Tenerife, the largest of Spain’s Canary Islands. According to this report, Till and his cohorts have also been ordered to reimburse the hotel for the damage caused — a sum totalling more than 8,500 euro ($9,570 USD).

In the main event, Englishman Darren Till was taking on Jorge Masvidal who was returning after over 400 days away from the cage. Meanwhile, in the co-main event, Englishman Leon Edwards was taking on longtime Icelandic contender Gunnar Nelson. Ultimately, Masvidal knocked out Till out cold in the second round while Edwards beat Nelson by split-decision.
