Darren Till

Darren Till has been occupying the metaphorical shelf since his gigantic breakthrough victory over Donald Cerrone in October at UFC Gdansk and now he’s very clearly ready to get back inside the Octagon.

The sky is the limit for Till and he will go from one leap to the next as he’ll be facing the former two-time UFC welterweight title challenger, Stephen “Wonderboy” Thompson in the main event of the UFC’s first visit to Liverpool, England on May 27th.

Being a Liverpool native, Till will be getting a home game in what is by far the biggest fight of his career and one that could very well earn him a crack at the welterweight title with a victory. Holding a 16-0-1 record, Till isn’t lacking any bit of confidence no matter who the opponent and so far his skills have been able to back it up.

In this upcoming clash with Thompson, we’ll be seeing a bit of old school vs new school in a way. Not to say that Thompson is old, but compared to Till he’s very much the seasoned veteran.

At just age 25, Till has only been competing since 2013 whereas Thompson is 10 years his elder with an entire lifetime of karate experience prior to his MMA debut in 2010.

Both fighters have established themselves as two of the very best if not the best strikers in the UFC’s 170-pound division. No other striking heavy fighters have really been able to figure out the puzzle that id Wonderboy so seeing whether or not the young, Till can be the one has captured all MMA fans’ intrigue.

There many great fights this month, but Thompson vs Till just may top them all. See where it ranks on BJPenn.com’s Top 5 Upcoming Fights for May 2018.
