Henry Cejudo makes prediction for potential Demetrious Johnson vs. TJ Dillashaw super fight
Having established himself as the most dominant champion in UFC history, UFC flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson is now being linked to a showdown with current UFC bantamweight champion TJ Dillashaw.
Unsurprisingly, this clash of incredibly talented fighters has got the fight world divided, as some people believe the ultra-dominant Johnson will win, while others favor Dillashaw, who is likely to be the bigger, stronger man in the cage.
In the opinion of Henry Cejudo, who has battled Johnson in the past, the flyweight champion should win this one pretty decisively. He believes the cut to flyweight will will be quite taxing for Dillashaw, which will open the door for a Johnson win.
“I think Demetrious’ speed, he’s intelligent, nothing to take away from T.J.,” Cejudo said on Monday’s edition of The MMA Hour. “I’ve said it before, I think it’s just a weight issue. I think it’s T.J. getting down those extra 10 pounds and how he recovers the next day. I think that’s the biggest factor in that fight.”
“I’ve talked to a lot of MMA guys that have gone down in weight class who are like, ‘I know what you’re talking about here,’” Cejudo continued, discussing the perils of a big weight cut. “Making that extra 10 pounds is a big difference. Now, T.J. at 135 is a different game for Demetrious.”
Whatever the case, Cejudo is in full support of this potential fight, as he believes it will shift the spotlight to the oft attention starved UFC flyweight division.
“As a competitor, as someone in the weight class, I think it’s good,” Cejudo explained.
“I think its cool that they do fight, but I feel like I already know the outcome.”
