Demetrious Johnson Gives Insight on Jon Jones and Drug Tests
Justin Golightly - August 24, 2017
Everyone has weighed-in on Jon Jones and the results of his drug test: Dana White, Daniel Cormier, Anthony Johnson, and hoards of others on the internet. The opinions have been just as diverse as the current (and still) UFC light heavyweight champion’s combat arsenal. His manager has gone on record supporting his client’s innocence and even went so far as to say it may be a set-up. What makes Demetrious Johnson’s two cents different, is that he details how he himself avoids “tainted supplements” or popping unexpectedly. “It’s unfortunate you know. its very hard to fail a drug test. I don’t take any supplements. I don’t take any ibuprofen, Tylenol, I don’t take nothing. I just got swimmer’s ear. The first thing I did was text the UFC’s doctor, I call Jeff Novinsky, I say ‘I got swmmer’s ear, I need to get antibiotics,’ because you never know what will show up for the tests.”

The Octagon will return to the Canadian province of Alberta on September 9th, this time in the city of Edmonton for UFC 215. The pay-per-view fight card is headlined by a flyweight title fight featuring long time division champion Demetrious Johnson squaring off with perennial division contender Ray Borg. This is it, folks. This is one of the reasons he declined a fight with T.J. Dillashaw. “Mighty Mouse” will attempt to make UFC history at the event by breaking the record for the most successful title defenses by a UFC champion with 11, beating out Anderson Silva. Johnson was last seen in action at April’s UFC on FOX event, where he scored a third-round submission victory over Wilson Reis. As for the “Tazmexican Devil”, Ray Borg has strung together back-to-back decision victories over Jussier Formiga and Louis Smolka. Two title fights headline #UFC215 in Edmonton…

Despite big win over Brandon Moreno, Sergio Pettis doesn't want "Mighty Mouse" next
Tom Taylor - August 6, 2017
Last night, the UFC touched down in sun-soaked Mexico City, Mexico, with an exciting night of fights. In the main event, we were treated to a clash of young flyweight contenders, as Duke Roufus trained Sergio Pettis took on Mexico’s own Brandon Moreno. Though both fighters are very young – both 23 years old – this looked like it could be a flyweight number one contender fight, with the winner earning a shot at incredibly dominant champion Demetrious “Mighty Mouse” Johnson. In the end, it was Pettis that earned the win, braving some early adversity to recapture the momentum, and ultimately a unanimous decision win. Surprisingly, however, his immediate focus is not on a flyweight title shot.

Despite the agreement, the UFC began to pressure Johnson to accept a fight with former bantamweight champion TJ Dillashaw. This led to a very public spat with Dana White, that resulted in both sides hurling verbal insults at one another through interviews and social media posts.

Demetrious Johnson questions the UFC: Is this f**king amateur hour?
bjpenndotcom - June 8, 2017
The ongoing saga between the UFC and flyweight kingpin Demetrious Johnson continues to be a rather strange one as the duo have been unable to come to an agreement regarding Johnson’s next fight. Earlier this week, the flyweight champion released a rather lengthy statement in which he revealed that UFC President Dana White and UFC matchmaker Sean Shelby essentially forced him into taking a fight with Ray Borg, just to then backtrack and demand Johnson accept a fight with TJ Dillashaw.

Daniel Cormier: UFC should pay Demetrious Johnson a million dollars to fight Dillashaw
Tom Taylor - June 8, 2017
Over the last few weeks, UFC President Dana White has been pushing UFC flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson to accept a fight with a slimmed down former bantamweight champion in TJ Dillashaw. Johnson, however, has some real reservations. He believes the next flyweight title shot should go to the established Ray Borg, and is reluctant to take any huge risks for the UFC President, who he recently divulged hasn’t treated him especially well. During a Wednesday night appearance on UFC Tonight, UFC light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier weighed in on this complicated UFC-Johnson-Dillashaw debacle. In his opinion, if the UFC wants to make this Johnson-Dillashaw happen they need to make it worth the flyweight champ’s while. Cormier believes a one million dollar payday should be enough in that regard.

Tom Taylor - June 6, 2017
Yesterday morning, UFC flyweight king Demetrious “Mighty Mouse” Johnson made waves by releasing a lengthy, anti-UFC statement, slamming the promotion and its president Dana White for trying to force him into a fight with former bantamweight champion TJ Dillashaw. In this statement, the champ suggested that he was more interested in fighting established flyweight contender Ray Borg. Since then, Borg has weighed in on the situation. He says he’s gained respect for the champ for striving to fight flyweight contenders rather than seeking more lucrative fights with fighters from other divisions.

Tom Taylor - June 5, 2017

Dana White discusses Demetrious Johnson not wanting TJ Dillashaw fight
bjpenndotcom - June 1, 2017
Several weeks ago, fight fans were made aware of a back injury sustained by UFC bantamweight champion Cody Garbrandt. As a result of the back injury, Garbrandt will be unable to defend his bantamweight title against TJ Dillashaw this summer. As a result, UFC President Dana White informed fans that Dillashaw will be dropping down to flyweight to challenge UFC flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson for the flyweight championship in a fight which could see Johnson break the UFC record for most consecutive title defenses. With that being said however, the champ seems to want no part of a flyweight showdown with TJ Dillashaw, explaining that it isn’t fair for the former bantamweight champ to cut the line at 125 pounds.

Demetrious Johnson, TJ Dillashaw and Ray Borg weigh in on complicated situation at flyweight
Tom Taylor - May 24, 2017
Yesterday, we learned that UFC bantamweight champion Cody Garbrandt was indeed out of UFC 213, which left his planned opponent TJ Dillashaw without an opponent. With this unfortunate news, an opportunistic Dillashaw re-upped on his previous claims, suggesting that he is keen to drop to flyweight to challenge dominant champ Demetrious “Mighty Mouse” Johnson for his belt. Apparently, the UFC is into this idea, and the fight is being seriously considered as the main event of UFC 215 this August in Seattle (in Johnson’s native Washington). While the world seems to be drooling over the possibility of a Dillashaw vs. Johnson flyweight title fight, however, Johnson himself is not so keen on the fight, as he feels Dillashaw would be skipping the line at flyweight. In his opinion, the streaking Ray Borg might be a more fitting opponent for his next defense.

Ray Borg plans to channel Chris Weidman when he fights Demetrious "Mighty Mouse" Johnson
Tom Taylor - May 22, 2017
Earlier this year, in the main event of the UFC’s recent trip to Kansas City, Missouri, UFC flyweight champion Demetrious “Mighty Mouse” Johnson defended his title for a whopping tenth-straight time. With this successful defense, which saw him submit BJJ blackbelt Wilson Reis, he tied Anderson Silva’s record for the most consecutive title defenses in UFC history. He now hopes to break that record. At the moment, the opponent for Johnson’s next title fight is not yet known. While bantamweights Cody Garbrandt and TJ Dillashaw have both been suggested as options, the most likely choice seems to be flyweight contender Ray Borg.

TJ Dillashaw eyeing Demetrious Johnson fight at UFC 214
bjpenndotcom - May 19, 2017
Earlier this year, former UFC bantamweight champion TJ Dillashaw learned that he would be stepping into the Octagon to fight his former teammate Cody Garbrandt for the UFC bantamweight title. While the pair coached opposite one another on The Ultimate Fighter, it was revealed recently that Garbrandt would be heading to Germany to undergo a procedure on his back. While UFC President Dana White was confident Garbrandt would be healed due to the fact that he sent ‘No Love’ to his doctor in Germany, the UFC President revealed that a backup plan was in the works. Should Garbrandt be unable to fight Dillashaw on July 8th, the UFC will look to book a flyweight title fight between champion Demetrious Johnson and TJ Dillashaw.
