UFC heavyweight contender Derrick Lewis recently had a very close call while riding an ATV outside his home with his young son. In a video captured by his home security cameras, Lewis can be seen sitting on his ATV, lifting his son onto the vehicle to join him. His son then seemingly hits the gas, sending the ATV careening through a small garden, into a stone pillar, and finally out onto the lawn.

Derrick Lewis is looking to become the number one contender at heavyweight and he will get one step closer to that goal on November 28. For quite some time now, Curtis Blaydes has been calling out Derrick Lewis for a fight. He has even accused “The Black Beast” and the UFC of avoiding the matchup. In the main event of UFC Vegas 6, top-10 heavyweights collided as Derrick Lewis took on Alexey Oleynik. It was a pivotal fight for both men as with the heavyweight title on the line at UFC 252, the winner could earn a number one contender bout or a title shot depending on the outcome. In the lead up to the fight, it was expected if Oleynik wins it would be by submission and if Lewis wins it would be by knockout. Ultimately, it was Lewis who got his hand raised by second-round knockout.

He’s also a family man and takes pride in his community of Houston, Texas. A few years ago, Lewis was seen helping victims of Hurricane Harvey in his hometown. Derrick Lewis is reportedly back in action for the UFC’s heavyweight division. According to Ariel Helwani of ESPN, citing multiple sources, Lewis will be in the main event for a fight night event scheduled on August 8, and will take on Alexey Oleinik. The fight has not been made official by the UFC yet, but Helwani’s report states that verbal agreements are in place on both sides. Earlier this year Lewis revealed that doctors told him he was facing a ‘life or death‘ health situation but according to the ESPN report, although his team has said to been keeping the situation private, Lewis has been cleared to return to action.
