Miesha Tate sends Diego Sanchez some support following KO loss to Al Iaquinta

Former UFC lightweight title challenger Diego Sanchez suffered a viscous knockout loss to Al Iaquinta in the co-main event of last night’s UFC Fight Night 108 fight card in Nashville.

Iaquinta was able to land a huge right hand on the chin of Sanchez early in round one that sent Diego crashing to the canvas.

Never short of heart, Sanchez quickly jumped back to his feet but a second right hand from “Raging” put “Lion Heart’s” lights out for good.

His scrap with Iaquinta marked Sanchez’s twenty-sixth contest under the UFC banner and his thirty-seventh professional fight overall.

Following the loss, some fighters voiced their respective opinions stating that they hope Diego will decide to hang up the gloves following his loss at UFC Nashville.

Former UFC welterweight title challenger Dan Hardy suggested that he would like to see Sanchez go into coaching.

Former UFC women’s bantamweight champion Miesha Tate also took to twitter where she delivered some positive words for Sanchez and encouraged the UFC staple to “Chin up Warrior”.

Diego Sanchez has gone 3-5 over his past eight fights overall.

“Lion Heart” has scored decision wins over Ross Pearson, Jim Miller and most recently Marcin Held in that time.

Sanchez’s five most recent setbacks have come to opponents Gilbert Melendez, Myles Jury, Ricardo Lamas, Joe Lauzon and most recently Al Iaquinta respectively.
