Dillon Danis addresses questions about his preparation, striking skill ahead of MMA debut
On April 28, at Bellator 198, grappling export Dillon Danis will make his anticipated MMA debut. The Conor McGregor training partner will be welcomed to the world of cage fighting by Kyle Walker.
Danis has oozed confidence ever since his signing with Bellator was announced – so much so that some fans are wondering if he’s taking the challenge ahead lightly.
When it comes to doubts about his preparation, Danis frankly feels disrespected.
“It’s that people would think I would do this not prepared,” Danis said on a recent edition of The MMA Hour (h/t Marc Raimondi of MMAFighting). “They think that I would take this as a joke. And I know MMA is a ruthless game and you can get hurt. You could basically change your life with a wrong fight or something. I feel disrespected that people would think that I’m just going into this lightly or I’m just gonna train jiu-jitsu or something like that. I respect this game a lot and I’m preparing for a world title fight, in a sense. Because that’s how every fight should be treated. I just feel a little disrespected that people would think that I took this lightly.”
Danis also addressed those who have questions about his striking ability. Apparently, we’ll just have to wait and see what he’s capable of in this department.
“I’ve been getting punched in the face for a long time, don’t worry,” Danis said. “I like all these questions. I’ve been getting this a lot, like ‘what’s his stand up gonna be like?’ and all this stuff. But the good thing about MMA is everything gets answered. So, I guess we’ll see. You’ll have to tune in and watch.”
Though he hails from the US, Danis has been preparing for his imminent MMA debut at SBG Ireland under the tutelage of John Kavanagh.
How do you think Dillon Danis will perform in the Bellator cage this April 28?
