Tom Taylor - June 19, 2017
When Conor McGregor steps into the boxing ring with Floyd Mayweather Jr. on August 26, he will make more money than he ever has competing in MMA – much, much more. He will make so much money that many fans expect him to walk away from the sport of MMA for good after the fight. According to McGregor’s training partner Dillon Danis, however, McGregor is likely to return to MMA despite taking a pay cut to do so, as MMA is his true passion.

Dillon Danis has gotten a lot of attention since teaming up with Conor McGregor for his last two fight camps helping with his jiu-jitsu game. In the weeks since he signed with the organization, Danis has claimed to be the highest paid fighter on the Viacom-backed organization’s roster, and more recently, suggested that the organization’s upcoming pay-per-view “Bellator NYC” will be a flop if he’s not on the bill. All of this, despite the fact that he has never competed in MMA. “We’d have to talk [about me being on the Bellator NYC card],” Danis told MMAjunkie.com. “We’d have to talk numbers, we’d have to talk everything. Just enticement. Because at the end of the day, that pay-per-view is not going to sell unless I’m on it.”

Given his previous dominance and his status as the UFC’s biggest star ever, McGregor was quickly given a shot at redemption against his foil. In preparation for this rematch with Diaz, which was momentarily scheduled for UFC 200 but ultimately occurred at UFC 202 in August, McGregor enlisted the help of Marcelo Garcia black belt Dillon Danis to sharpen his jiu jitsu skill. This, of course, thrust Danis into the MMA spotlight, where he has remained ever since.
