UFC 209 isn’t sold out, and BJJ star Dillon Danis knows why
This weekend, the UFC will return to Las Vegas’ T-Mobile Arena with UFC 209. The card is an undeniably stacked one.
In the main event, we’ll see UFC welterweight king Tyron “The Chosen One” Woodley take on challenger Stephen “Wonderboy” Thompson in a rematch of their thrilling November draw. In the co-main event, we’ll be treated to an interim lightweight title fight between undefeated Dagestani grappler Khabib “The Eagle” Nurmagomedov and the streaking Tony “El Cucuy” Ferguson. Elsewhere on the main card, we’ll witness a heavyweight rematch between decorated strikers Mark Hunt and Alistair Overeem, a lightweight scrap between Lando Vannata and David Teymur, and the middleweight debut of former light heavyweight champ Rashad Evans, who takes on Australia’s Dan Kelly.
Despite the star-studded nature of this card, however, it is not a sellout. Tickets are still available through the UFC website.
BJJ star Dillon Danis, who entered the MMA limelight for helping Conor McGregor train for his rematch with Nate Diaz, claims to know why this is the case. In a Monday evening Tweet, the grappler claimed that, if he were making his MMA debut on the UFC 209 bill, it would have been a sold out show.

“I know for a fact if I was on the UFC card Saturday it would [have] been sold out,” Danis said in his Tweet. “They be f*cking up.”
Though Danis has never competed in mixed martial arts, he is currently one of the best competitors on the submission grappling circuit, and has managed to stay in the MMA consciousness by calling for fights with Nate Diaz and Sage Northcutt. While there seems to be some interest in seeing him compete in the cage, there are currently no details available about his potential UFC debut.
Do you think UFC 209 would have already sold out if Dillon Danis was on the card? Sound off, PENN Nation!
