UFC bantamweight contender Cody Garbrandt is hoping that an impressive victory at next weekend’s UFC 202 event in Las Vegas will earn him a title shot against Dominick Cruz. “He said he’s going to add to my concussion list,” Garbrandt said, referring to a recent Cruz interview with MMAjunkie. “That says to me like he’s going to try to go in there and kill me. He wants to do that, so I’m definitely going to make him eat every one of his words. He’s going to be eating through a straw for a couple of months after we fight.”

Going into UFC 199, there was certainly no love lost between Dominick Cruz and Urijah Faber. For nearly 10 years the pair had engaged in a bitter rivalry after Faber submitted Cruz back in 2007 under the WEC banner. Cruz avenged the loss in the UFC, defeating Faber via unanimous decision, however that wasn’t enough to put an end to the rivalry. In the co-main event of UFC 199, the pair finally competed in a trilogy fight, which Cruz won in convincing fashion.

At UFC 199, Dominick Cruz defeated bitter rival Urijah Faber via unanimous decision, dominating the fight from start to finish as he knocked Faber down several times, and secured several takedowns over the course of the fight. Dominick Cruz scored an impressive unanimous decision victory over bitter rival Urijah Faber in the co-main event of yesterday’s UFC 199 fight card in Los Angeles. Cruz was able to utilize his excellent footwork and head movement to frustrate Faber for the majority of the fight. “The Dominator” dropped Urijah in the bouts second-round but was unable to finish “The California Kid”.

Following his impressive first-round TKO victory over the previously undefeated Henry Cejudo at UFC 197, UFC flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson stated the he was very interested in doing a “super-fight” with current bantamweight title holder Dominick Cruz. “The Dominator” and “Mighty Mouse” have already fought once under the UFC banner, with Cruz earning a five-round decision victory over Johnnson in October of 2011.

The former Team Alpha Male fighter, Dillashaw, says despite his recent rivalry with Urijah he will still be rooting for the “California Kid” against newly crowned champion Dominick Cruz at UFC 199.
