Donald ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone vs. Georges St-Pierre?
While former UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre hasn’t competed inside the Octagon since he defeated Johny Hendricks via split decision at UFC 167 two and a half years ago, talks of GSP returning have remained consistent.
Leading up to UFC 196 this past Saturday, MMA fans wondered if GSP could return for a superfight at UFC 200 with Conor McGregor, if he were to defeat Nate Diaz in the main event. Ultimately, as everyone knows by now, Diaz submitted McGregor in the 2nd round of their welterweight scrap.
It had been revealed prior to the bout that Diaz had been asking Dana White for a fight with Georges St-Pierre at UFC 200 however nothing ever came of the talks. Following UFC 196, Georges St-Pierre’s head coach Firas Zahabi revealed that GSP was impressed by Diaz’s performance, and would try to get a bout made between the two men.
As if the hype surrounding a potential GSP-Diaz superfight wasn’t enough, now fan-favorite fighter Donald ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone has thrown his name into the mix of potential opponents for GSP to face if he were to come back.
Cerrone took to Twitter:
Hey GSP @ufc #200 I know a guy. @GeorgesStPierre

It is important to note that during a video interview at UFC 196, St-Pierre revealed that he didn’t know if he was retired or not, and wouldn’t commit to even stating who he would like to face if he returned.
