No one can explain Donald Cerrone’s eye and his fight still scheduled days away

UFC fan favorite Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone shocked a lot of people last week when he posted a video of his gruesomely injured-looking eye.

“What’s going on everybody, this is Cowboy,” Cerrone said in his social media post.

“Before the media puts out what happened, just wanted to let you all know I’m still fighting in Toronto on December 10, yeah, I’m still fighting. Everything is good. After hours on the table, the doctors were able to save my eye. No issues there. So, couple weeks let it heal up and see you all in Toronto! Can’t catch a break on this fight.”

Many believed that Cerrone had makeup on as the injury looked far too severe for him to be approved by any commission to fight in two weeks at UFC 206 against Matt Brown. Plus with it being known that Cerrone was filming a TV Western, many believed it was a makeup job.

However, Cerrone has posted a few photos on Instagram since and also showed up to the media conference announcing the Mixed Martial Arts Athletes Association with his eye still bandaged and looking injured.

The media couldn’t explain what was going on with Cerrone’s eye.

Ariel Helwani tweeted, “As for Cerrone’s eye, honestly can’t get anyone to explain what’s going on. Tried numerous times. Either don’t want to or can’t. Bizarre.”

Mike Chiappetta also tweeted, “There were rumors Cerrone’s eye injury was a makeup job for TV but this was him today at MMAAA announcement. So uh, about UFC 206 next week?”

If you’re questioning Cerrone’s video and the photos with it looking like the right eye was injured in the video and the left eye in the photos, using the front camera of a phone often results in a mirror effect explaining why the injury would appear to be on Cerrone’s right side in his video.
