With the UFC’s inaugural event at the Madison Square Garden, UFC 205, rapidly approaching on November 12th, fight fans have been anxiously awaiting announcements regarding fights which will take place on the card. The first bout announced by the UFC for the historic card was Robbie Lawler vs. Donald Cerrone. While MMA fans were quick to celebrate the announcement, it was revealed that Lawler had backed out of the fight for fear of returning to action too quickly following his UFC 201 KO loss to Tyron Woodley.

After Cerrone’s comment was circulated all over the Internet, “Cowboy” was criticized by ONE Champion’s welterweight champ, Ben Askren. Askren addressed Cerrone directly in his Facebook video post saying, ““It’s disgusting and if you were actually half as tough as you talk or you think you are, somewhere in over the decade of mixed martial arts you’ve done you would have learned how to stop a takedown but you are weak and you aren’t smart.”
