According to Brett Okamoto of ESPN, the two stars are set to face off on January 18 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada in what will likely be the main event of UFC 246. It will mark the first time that we’ve seen McGregor in the Octagon since his infamous submission defeat back at UFC 229 to Khabib Nurmagomedov.

ESPN reporter Ariel Helwani subsequently added that the most likely opponents for McGregor’s return are Justin Gaethje and Donald Cerrone, with Cerrone being the current frontrunner. “I have some news for you all, for the world, here today,” McGregor told the media in attendance in the Russian capital (transcript via MMA Fighting).

Shaw was asked by the media post-event what he thought about the stoppage. Both Gaethje and Cerrone complained about when the referee stopped the fight. For Gaethje, he believes the referee waited too long, and for Cerrone he believes it was stopped too early. If you ask Shaw his opinion on the matter, he believes the referee stopped the fight too late.
