UFC lightweight contender Dustin Poirier is down to scrap rival Dan Hooker in a welterweight bout — and on a private island, to boot. UFC president Dana White announced this week that the promotion is going to have its next four fights at an undisclosed location (since revealed to be Tachi Palace), and then hold weekly fights on a private island after that. Poirier vs. Hooker was set to headline UFC San Diego on May 16, which was the fifth upcoming card on the UFC schedule. That means it could be the first event that would take place on White’s private island.

UFC lightweight contender Dustin Poirier gave his prediction on what would happen in a future fight between Conor McGregor and Justin Gaethje. Poirier has fought both McGregor and Gaethje in the past, so if anyone knows this potential matchup well it’s him. Poirier was knocked out by McGregor back in 2014 when he fought at featherweight but defeated Gaethje by knockout in 2018 after moving up to lightweight. With so much time spent in the cage with both men, Poirier should know exactly how a fight between his two former fighters would go.

Dustin Poirier believes Justin Gaethje would beat both Khabib Nurmagomedov and Tony Ferguson in potential fights. Nurmagomedov and Ferguson were expected to fight at UFC 249 on April 18 but the champ withdrew due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Ferguson called for “The Eagle” to be stripped, but could also fight Justin Gaethje on that card.

Dustin Poirier is ready and willing to fight Tony Ferguson in the new main event of the chaotic UFC 249 card. Early this morning, UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov took to Instagram live to share the unfortunate news that he is stuck in his native Russia due to the coronavirus pandemic, which effectively nixes any possibility of his fighting Ferguson at UFC 249 as planned.

That being said, he did have a brief moment of success against the champ, threatening with a deep guillotine choke mid-way through the fight. Former UFC lightweight interim champion Dustin Poirier is expected to face the divisions surging contender, Dan Hooker in a 155-pound blockbuster showdown. According to  MMA Junkie, “The Diamond” is expected to fight Hooker in the main event of UFC San Diego on May 16th, but contracts are yet to be signed. The sources have requested anonymity due to the fact that the UFC has yet to make an official announcement.

Dustin Poirier has hinted at his next fight on social media. Poirier has been campaigning for a scrap for weeks and now has taken to Twitter to hint at a possible main event fight against Dan Hooker. The Kiwi, of course, had stated that he would like to fight Poirier, if Justin Gaethje was not available.

Hooker is coming off the back of a thrilling win over Paul Felder at UFC Auckland, and while the victory may have been seen as controversial by some who believed Felder should’ve gotten the nod, the fight itself served as undeniable proof that Hooker has the potential to do some big things at lightweight.

UFC lightweight Dustin Poirier has been chasing a fight against Nate Diaz for months, but now he’s finally decided to move on. Speaking on Ariel Helwani’s MMA Show on Monday, Poirier said that UFC matchmakers Sean Shelby and Mick Maynard told him that Diaz and his camp have not responded to their requests for him to fight Poirier, and have told “The Diamond” to move on.

Speaking to MMA Junkie recently, Poirier divulged that the UFC has offered Diaz a contact for a 170-pound fight in May or July — though it’s not yet clear if the Stockton, California-based fighter will accept.

UFC lightweight contender Dustin Poirier doesn’t believe that Conor McGregor has any interest in a rematch against him. Poirier and McGregor first met way back at UFC 178 in September 2014 in a featherweight bout. At the time, Poirier was one of the top contenders at 145lbs, while McGregor was on his way up the ladder. Looking back, it’s crazy to see that McGregor vs. Poirier was third on the main card behind Demetrious Johnson vs. Chris Cariaso in the main event and Donald Cerrone vs. Eddie Alvarez in the co-main event.

UFC lightweight contender Dustin Poirier says that he is set to take on Brazilian jiu-jitsu star Gary Tonon in a grappling match in February. Poirier will take on Tonon in the main event of the SubStars Jiu-Jitsu event on February 21 at The Fillmore at the Jackie Gleason Theater in Miami Beach, Florida.
