The Rock continues to get heat from UFC fighters after his new Project Rock shoes were added to the promotion’s official uniform kit, reportedly without extra compensation for those wearing them. Nate Diaz was the first fighter to voice his unhappiness with the footwear, a collaboration between Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson and Under Armour. During an interview with ESPN’s Megan Olivi, Diaz bashed the shoes so hard that the clip was edited to remove his comments.

The bout was a competitive one early, as Ferguson knocked down Chandler in the first round. That first frame was El Cucuy’s first round won in nearly two years. Sadly, the success was short-lived.

Earlier this week, Rogan took to Instagram to post a nine minute video addressing accusations that his podcast ‘JRE’ was spreading misinformation concerning Covid-19. The longtime UFC commentator admitted that he enjoys having “interesting conversations with people that have differing opinions”, and admitted he doesn’t “always get it right”, promising to “do better“.

The controversy continues surrounding Joe Rogan and his podcast ‘The Joe Rogan Experience’ concerning Covid-19 misinformation and conspiracy theories. Artists Neil Young and Joni Mitchell asked Spotify to remove their songs from the audio streaming and media services provider, citing misinformation being offered concerning Covid-19.  In early January a group of doctors and medical professionals wrote an open letter to Spotify concerning Rogan’s Covid-19 content on the podcasts, citing “false and societally harmful assertions”.

Johnson has collaborated with popular sports manufacturer Under Armour for a few years now, creating a brand dubbed “Project Rock” that has seen clothing, gym accessories, and sneakers made reminiscent of the actor’s style. Johnson’s brand has now taken a huge step, as it’s the official footwear partner for the UFC.

The ‘BMF’ bout between Jorge Masvidal and Nate Diaz ended anti-climatically as the doctor stopped the contest in the third round due to cuts above the right eye of Nate Diaz. By this point Masvidal had maintained a dominant position and ultimately claimed the TKO win.
