Eddie Alvarez on fighting Rafael dos Anjos on Fight Pass: ‘I don’t give a $h*t’

A lot of fans were thrown off when the UFC announced that UFC lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos would be defending his belt against top contender Eddie Alvarez on July 7th on Fight Pass.

With the fight being two days before the historical and giant UFC 200 card, Alvarez was asked how he felt about being on the Fight Pass card by Ariel Helwani on the MMA Hour on Monday.

“I don’t give a $h*t,” Alvarez said. “I don’t care if they even got a ref in there. Where this thing is and when it airs and where it airs, that ain’t got nothing to do with me.

“I’m getting a world title shot. I’m getting an opportunity to do something that I’ve been fighting 13 years for. I don’t care where they view this or if they even view it all. I don’t give two $h*ts.”

Alvarez also said it’s the doubters and haters that drive him to prove them all wrong.

“I just want that title shot. Look, I told everyone that this would happen,” Alvarez said. “I thrive and I do well in situations where people tell me you can’t do something. I love when people tell me I can’t do something. It excites me. It gets me up. This is that situation. A lot of lot of f*c&*ng people told me I couldn’t do this and that’s probably the only reason I’m gonna do this because someone told me I can’t.”
