VIDEO | Justin Gaethje Doesn't Give a Sh-t About Conor McGregor's Plans

Justin Golightly - December 2, 2017

For those who didn’t see Justin Gaethje’s three-year path of destruction through World Series of Fighting, they were exposed to the kind of violence he provides at The Ultimate Fighter 25 Finale. Followers of the agent of chaos were eager to see if Gaethje’s kill-or-be-killed style would hold up against a top-10 UFC lightweight. Everyone knows now – especially Michael Johnson – that it did. Diving deeper into the shark tank, Justin Gaethje will now fight one of the top 155-pound fighters in the world in mere hours. If Gaethje successfully retains his title as UFC’s “Most Violent Fighter” against Eddie Alvarez, it looks like he will be after Tony Ferguson’s interim lightweight belt. “I honestly don’t give a sh-t [about Conor McGegor’s plans] because it does not matter. If I don’t win this fight [against Eddie Alvarez], I’m not even in that picture. So, I’m focusing on Eddie. Can’t hate on Conor for making a sh-t ton of money. Don’t hate him at all. So yeah, if I finish Eddie, I would definitely want to fight Tony [Ferguson for the interim lightweight title].”

VIDEO | UFC Fighters Give Their Picks for Justin Gaethje vs Eddie Alvarez

Justin Golightly - December 2, 2017

The fight between Justin Gaethje and Eddie Alvarez is violence personified. They have even gone as far as to say that the UFC’s “Most Violent” title is on the line. It’s the undefeated, former WSOF lightweight champion fighting the former UFC lightweight champion and last MMA fighter to throw down with Conor McGregor. It’s an absolute feast of chaos for the fans, but it’s also a real fighter’s fight. Who better to break down the crazy scrap than other UFC fighters who seem just as giddy for the match-up as we are courtesy of James Lynch from Fightful.com? “Aw, Justin Gaethje for sure man. That guy is the human highlight reel. He’s fun to watch. I used to wrestle with him in the Pack 10 when he was in Northern Colorado and I was at Oregon State, so I saw him a lot. He’s always been flashy and unorthodox. So, I think Justin Gaethje gets the job done [against Eddie Alvarez] dramatically there.” — Colby Covington.

Dustin Poirier Thinks He Gets a Title Shot if the UFC Stops 'F-cking Him Over'

Justin Golightly - November 8, 2017

Even though Dustin Poirier is about to fight Anthony Pettis this weekend, he still wants to know ‘where the f-ck’ Eddie Alvarez is. We all know the story by now, but these scrappers were on their way to Fight of the Night back at UFC 211 and Poirier felt he was on his way to a victory. We were potentially robbed of both by some illegal shots by Eddie Alvarez which made the bout a no contest. The two still have unfinished business, but Poirier driven toward something even bigger: UFC lightweight gold. “You know, in that fight, everybody who watched it saw I whipped Eddie Alvarez, made him look like an amateur. I mean the guy was two steps behind, couldn’t keep up. And then he kneed me in the back of the head with a shot that was illegal. And in the heat of the moment, I gave him the benefit of the doubt. I thought it could’ve been an accident. I thought he might’ve been hurt, you know, and he was in fight mode, survival mode, he was just fighting and he kneed me. I told the crowd in Dallas to stop booing him, stood up for the guy, then he came out on social media talking sh-t, saying I wanted out of the fight.”

Dustin Poirier Wants to Know 'Where the F-ck' is Eddie Alvarez

Justin Golightly - November 7, 2017

We’re finally catching our breath from the insanity of UFC 217, but UFC Norfolk is going to get the heart pumping at maximum levels this Saturday. It’s a sleeper card with a ton of good fights, all topped off with Dustin Poirier fighting Anthony Pettis in the main event. It’s a former champion going to battle with a challenger who inching closer to his shot. Poirier is pumped for the match-up, but would have preferred to finish what he and Eddie Alvarez started. “My first original thought [when I heard I’d be fighting Anthony Pettis] was, ‘Where the f-ck is Eddie Alvarez?’. That’s what my first thought was, but then I said alright, this is a fun, exciting fight. This guy is another former world champion. What can I really be upset about? It’s a main event fight – we’re all eyes on us – against another world champion, and I’ll just show again what kind of caliber fighter I am. Right now [the door is closed for fighting Eddie Alvarez] because I’ve been training 12 weeks for Anthony Pettis, so that’s all I’m focused on right now.”

Eddie Alvarez Responds to 'Head Case' Lauren Murphy's Criticisms of Him as a Coach

Justin Golightly - October 18, 2017

No surprises that another season of The Ultimate Fighter has created drama. This time, it’s more behind the scenes than in front of our faces and the two can’t even fight it out. Lauren Murphy has spoken out before about how she didn’t appreciate Eddie Alvarez’s coaching methods, stemming from how she felt she was treated after her first loss. Evidently this only continued throughout the filming of the show. She had even taken to her blog to talk more in detail about it. Alvarez recently was asked about their beef with each other and explained why she’s not exactly his favorite on his team either. “I understand you’re there for yourself, but you didn’t even fight anybody on the other team yet. You didn’t even get past your first fight against Team Gaethje and you conspired two or three times already against the girls on our team that you’re gonna be in the gym with every day. So I’m like, man this [Lauren Murphy] is a little bit of a head case and she’s kind of looking at everyone as her enemy. It just didn’t make for a good attitude in the room or a good person to even have around. She was conspiring from the very beginning.”

Eddie Alvarez Back to 'Not Giving a F-ck' For UFC 218

Justin Golightly - October 13, 2017

These next cards running into November and December through the end of the year, all feel like Christmas. We’ve made it through some rough times and kept on trucking, the UFC will be rewarding us for keeping the faith. Just one of these fights we’ll be given the pleasure of seeing is Justin Gaethje going to war with Eddie Alvarez to potentially decide the next number one contender for the UFC lightweight title. Former champ Alvarez recently opened up about things that he felt held him back in his previous fights. “In my mind, I’m just looking, for myself, I just don’t feel like I’ve fought my best fight in the UFC yet. I feel like I’m having a moment now where I want to say that I’m not giving a f-ck and I feel like the less I give a f-ck, the better I fight. I think I cared a bit too much, even in my title fight [against Rafael dos Anjos] which I won, I just cared a little bit too much and I didn’t risk enough. I just want to approach the game where I really just don’t give a f-ck. I think I fight better that way.”

Eddie Alvarez thinks the UFC is using him to build up Justin Gaethje

Tom Taylor - October 1, 2017

This December 2, when the UFC touches down in Detroit, Michigan with UFC 218, former UFC and Bellator lightweight champ Eddie Alvarez will battle former World Series of Fighting champ Justin Gaethje in a clear Fight of the Year contender. While it’s undeniable that the UFC put this fight together based on its entertainment value, Alvarez also feels that this fight is an attempt to boost Gaethje’s name – at his own expense. “When UFC wants something, they get it, you know what I mean?” Alvarez said in a recent episode of the UFC Unfiltered podcast (via MMAMania.com). “If they want you to fight, you’re going to fight [who they] want you to fight. There is not much of a negotiation going on there, especially with me.”

In just one week, Tony Ferguson will fight Kevin Lee for the UFC lightweight title at UFC 216. It’s the biggest fight of both of their careers so far, but Ferguson was ready to throwdown with another lightweight earlier today. Eddie Alvarez made some comments about the interim title scrap, Tony Ferguson was quick to respond saying the former champion wouldn’t last a round with him.

Lauren Murphy Goes Off on TUF 26 Coach Eddie Alvarez

Justin Golightly - September 28, 2017

After an emotional defeat at the hands of  Nicco Montano on last week’s episode of The Ultimate Fighter 26, Lauren Murphy was very emotional. Losing is always hard, but feeling like you may have missed out on a shot in the UFC that you’ve worked years for is much harder. Nonetheless, she was expected at practice with the rest of her team the next by by her coach Eddie Alvarez. This was something that caused a huge rift between Murphy and her Alvarez, causing her to voice her frustrations about it on air.    “Eddie [Alvarez] met me super recently. He doesn’t know anything about me. I’m doing my best here and if I need two hours to process the fact that I just blew my shot at the UFC title, like give me two f-cking hours by myself to cry it out and f-cking think about it and miss my husband and miss my kid and figure out how I’m gonna’ explain to them that I f-cking blew it without somebody like correcting my boxing technique. For two f-cking hours.”

Justin Gaethje has peaked the interest of anyone not aware of his World Series of Fighting achievements. His opponent, Eddie Alvarez was known in the game for many years before his gigantic double-title fight with Conor McGregor. Both of the guys are 100% guaranteed exciting fighters, but it’s sure to be a crazy slobberknocker when the two Ultimate Fighter 26 coaches finally clash. Justin Gaethje is 'Excited' to Get Punched in the Face by Eddie Alvarez

Justin Golightly - August 31, 2017

Hopefully, you knew of Justin Gaethje before he stepped foot into the UFC. If you didn’t, chances are you’ve seen his ‘Fight of the Year’ candidate with Michael Johnson back in July. This wild man has somehow remained undefeated (18-0 with 16 finishes!) while simultaneously being one of the most exciting fighters alive. If he keeps this up, things are really going to get interesting. He’s looking to earn a fight with ‘crazy’ Conor McGregor, but first he’s got to get through Eddie Alvarez. “I think it’s a great match-up for me. I’m much more athletic, faster, [Eddie Alvarez] is getting older and he’s getting up there at the end of his career — that’s fact. I think my leg kicks are going to be very detrimental to his lead leg. I’m working at just getting better every day and I’m ready to fight Eddie Alvarez. I’ve been watching him since I was in high school, I was a fan of him, been a fan forever and I’m still a fan of his. I’m excited to get punched in the face by him.”

Eddie Alvarez: Conor McGregor's Time to Win is Within the First 4 Rounds

Justin Golightly - August 15, 2017

Despite his on-again-off-again success in the UFC, Eddie Alvarez is an exceptional fighter. That dude is the only guy to be both a Bellator and UFC lightweight champion. If you go further back, he’s beat the who’s who of anyone in his division from the soil of America to the shores of Japan in smaller promotions. Most of which were former champions in their own right. That’s how he became the king of the underground. If there’s one who knows Conor McGregor, it’s Alvarez. After causing Joey Diaz to have an aneurysm after he beat Rafael dos Anjos for the lightweight belt, Alvarez lost it directly to McGregor in a flurry of super Sayain punches. You’d think that would make Eddie salty, but he thinks you’re a fool is you don’t think Conor McGregor can beat Floyd Mayweather.

UFC targets Justin Gaethje vs. Eddie Alvarez, frustrated Dustin Poirier goes off

Tom Taylor - July 11, 2017

Shortly after his thrilling TKO win over Michael Johnson – which marked a successful UFC debut – former World Series of Fighting champ Justin Gaethje called out Tony Ferguson. Ferguson, however, didn’t appear to be interested in the fight, and UFC President Dana White later stated that the UFC is still hoping to pair Ferguson with Khabib Nurmagomedov. With his desired Ferguson fight apparently off the table, Gaethje then suggested he’d like a fight with Eddie Alvarez as a backup plan. He made his call for a fight with Alvarez on The MMA Hour.
