EXCLUSIVE | Colby Covington “could see the roid-rage” in Werdum’s eyes during Boomerang incident
Earlier this month, former UFC heavyweight champion Fabricio Werdum was notified of a potential USADA violation. Werdum is now undergoing his due process, and is vehemently maintaining his innocence. Yet in the opinion of one of the heavyweight’s chief nemeses, UFC welterweight Colby Covington, there is no doubt about Werdum’s guilt.
Covington, who has had plenty to say about Werdum’s homeland of Brazil in the past — most notably calling it “a dump” and its people “filthy animals” — was infamously confronted by the heavyweight in Australia late last year. During this confrontation, Werdum struck Covington with a boomerang.
Apparently, that incident was enough to prove to Covington that Werdum was using illicit substances.
“I wasn’t surprised by the filthy animal’s actions,” Covington said of Werdum’s potential USADA violation on the latest episode of BJPENN.COM Radio. “He’s just comporting himself like I said he would comport himself. He’s a filthy animal. He’s a cheap-shotter. The guy was on a steroid roid-rage in Australia when he was throwing a boomerang at me, and I could see the roid-rage in his eyes, trying to kill me. I knew he was on roids for a long time, it’s just a matter of time until justice caught up to him.”
Covington also feels that this ordeal could spell the end of Fabricio Werdum’s career.
“100 percent,” Covington said. “His career’s done. He’s already 41 years old in his little rocker chair as it is. Fabricio Werdum’s career is done. He’s going to get a two-year ban and be done. I don’t know if he’s even woken up from that knock out loss he took to that Russian dude in London a couple months ago, so he’s probably still sleeping from that. I’m surprised they’re able to get a sample from him but it’s funny how every guy that gets popped, [goes] ‘Oh, it’s a tainted substance- Oh, it’s this…’ No one’s ever came out and said, ‘Yeah, I did it.’ Of course he’s going to try and get his lawyers and his manager to create some fake news.”
While the ever-outspoken Colby Covington is absolutely entitled to his opinion, we must reiterate that Werdum is undergoing his due process, and is innocent until proven otherwise.
